How do I track a package mailed from Europe to the US, stuck at a local USPS hub?

I bought a very expensive item from a seller in the Netherlands  ( I live in the US). On the tracking on Ebay, the package cleared customs without issue, and is at a USPS postal hub just outside of my city ( Boston) where it's been sitting for over a week. Normally any packages en route to me show up on the USPS informed delivery tool; but this package has not yet appeared.  Yet Ebay must have a usps tracking number to be able to list the packages stops after passing through customs in NYC. How do I search for this package if it doesn't move? The only tracking I can find on the Ebay listing is the Dutch carrier and that doesn't have any record of package. How do I find Ebay's tracking number for my package after it entered the US? I don't see it listed anywhere, and don't think I can launch a search without it, and yet all the stops it made after clearing customs are listed on the Ebay tracking. The item cost me over $1000 so it will be a big loss if it just vanished

If the package is in the postal system, then the tracking number from the Netherlands post office will also work on the USPS website. So try that first:

If that doesn't work, it was probably another carrier (not the post office), so please let us know. A lot of the time, international packages are sent by courier, and the USPS only handles the "last mile" final delivery. If you share the tracking number, we can probably help to find it. It's not a security issue to share the tracking number. Or, you can send it to me by private message, and I'll check on it for you.

Because the item was over $800, then there will probably be tariffs and customs due, and you have to pay them before it can be delivered. That could explain the delay. Many international packages coming into the US appear to be having severe delays at the moment, even if there is no payment due.

I addition to @lacemaker3 's informative post, I've had great success tracking packages on this site https://www.17track.net/en 

Often when a package is in the limbo going form International to domestic USPS there is a bit of a delay in the update. 

17 Track is usually accurate for most shipping services. 

International packages from Europe have been taking more time for me the last few months. 

They have all eventually arrived. For me it was no fault of the seller so I didn't even mention it in FB or allow it to cloud my opinion. I know you didn't mention this but I wanted to put it out there. 

Hopefully your package starts moving again soon.
