Hi All,
I have a buyer who requested a return, saying they received the wrong item/item not as described. I contacted them and long story short, they realized they had made an error. Now they would like to cancel the return request and keep the item. Ebay automatically accepted their return request and issued a return label. The buyer wants to keep but isn't able to find a place to cancel the return.
I did copy and paste the ebay article that explains how to cancel a return request. Is the procedure different since the return was automatically accepted by ebay?
Thanks!

@binge-worthy-retail I think regardless of the return setting the Buyer should have the option to cancel the return. If they miss the window to return then you can close the claim in your favor and that ends the issue. You can message the Buyer and let them know that.
If the label is NOT used by the Buyer you will be credited the amount of the label for the return shipment ... it may take up to 14 days ...

I would think that all the buyer would have to do was not use the return label and not return the item and the seller could have the dispute closed.

Will this count as a ding against my account if they just let the return label expire?

It shouldn't. You followed policy and sent them the return label. If they decide not to follow through with the return. I believe that they are given a specific number of days to return the item, or at least get it in the mail back to you, if they miss that date you can call and have the case closed in your favor and no one is penalized. Provided, of course, that they hadn't had to ask eBay to step in before you accepted the return and sent the return label.
