How am I suppose to send this back safely, or can I? Damaged mold spray.

I received a packaged in bad shape. The content ( liquid mold spray) all leaked out. It even started eating some of the shipping box away. The fumes are bad. Some of the liquid has leaked into a plastic bag. The seller wants it back.

WOW... whats the active ingredient in that?

Thats nasty.

No way can that be shipped back like so.

Probably illegal to ship it other than hazardous good freight in the first place.

Ask the seller what use is there returning and obviously leaked in transit bottle of oxidising agent?

Do they plan on selling it to someone else?

ebay should realise this is not something that is safe or wise to suggest returning in that condition.

Put it to this seller -

Full refund plus shipping cost you paid AND no return... or you ask the shipper if it was allowed and  can inform who sent it to you via their services.

It's smells like bleach x 10.  It' suppose to be very potent, and from what I can tell it is, it's eating the label off the bottle too.    I called ebay and the rep told me to get a note from UPS, so I have to drive up there. Why in the world does this seller want it back! I have it sitting out in my driveway, the fumes are so bad. Now I have to keep it out there till next Monday and call ebay back. This is not right.

What is that product anyway?

Name of it and who made it might be enough to find a MSDS that tells what's in it and risk category.

Can you see the words ' Sodium Hypoclorite - NaOCl ' or ' Sodium Percarbonate - SPC - Na2CO3 ' on the remnant label?

I'd bluff the seller that asks for return. Send photo image in ebay message back.

Ask if they want you to take it to Post Office or the shipping Co they used to send it to you.

RMR-86 Instant Mold Stain & Mildew Stain Remover - 32 oz w/Sprayer

I'll have to look up the ingredients. i can't get to close to the label, the fumes are so bad. Your suppose to wear a mask when spraying. The seller wont respond, I sent him pictures. He just wants it returned and sent a label via ups. Ups wont touch it. Ebay told me to get a note from Ups.

This is to prove, you are not fishing for a partial and a scammer.

Should every item be returned, if requested ?

Thats Hypo.

Highly oxidising... it will burn skin.

NO WAY can that be returned and was probably illigal to send by any means other than hazardious transport carrier to you if there was multiple containers in that box.

Call USPS Customer service and ask them to direct you to hazardious goods limitations on their services. You may be able to find it yourself on web site.

That should be enough to convince silly ebay staff it canot be reshipped in that condition [or the box].

I reckon the seller will back down when you know the limitations on shipping such goods via USPS and ask them if they want you to go to USPS office and tell who shipped it to you.

Send the photo in message to seller so ebay can see you told 'em so.

Not if it's so damaged, it will cause harm to someone. It's now a leaking plastic bag of chemicals, when touched it burns. UPS has already told me no.

You bet it burns.  The MSDS sheet is worth a read.

Sorry, UPS.    That must be documented on their web site. < download or note the page address.

Open a 'case' to get full refund + shipping.  Then the seller will reply.

Attach the prohibited to send note to reason why it can't be shipped back.

You shouldn't need to drive miles to them to get this basic information.

Silly ebay... if they fail to refund you might be able to claim damage off UPS.

Ask UPS if it is the sender or receiver that files a damage claim.

Good luck, stay safe.

Thank you for your help. I called the mold place. They are sending me a link about handling this.  They said it shouldn't be shipped like this, esp loose in a plastic bag with a leak.  I'm going to get something in writing from UPS.

There are two phone numbers on that MSDS to call in case of transportation mishaps. I would call both and explain the situation.

I would also put that box in a strong plastic bag and get it off of your driveway. Hose the area with LOTS of water and be prepared to go after the idiot that sent it for repairing the damage.

When an item isn't returned to the seller
In some instances, we may not require that an item be returned to the seller. In these situations, we refund the buyer and may seek reimbursement from the seller, for example if:
- The seller chooses not to accept a return request or provide a return shipping label
- The item location was misrepresented
- It's hazardous to ship back the item
- The item no longer has a value (for instance, a ticket for a cancelled event)

The manufactuer said this cannot be shipped in this condition and sent me some paperwork.  They wanted the paperwork that was in the box because they are having issues with 3rd parties buying it on Amazon, but the paperwork in the box was mostly dissolved. They said next time buy directly from them, although I highly doubt I'll ever buy this again.  The smell is beyond potent, I have bagged it up. Called ebay again and they looked at the pictures & reviewed the product. They told me to dispose of it and agreed it's hazardous and gave me ref # and they will step in in a few days.
