I just had an auction end and one buyer won two items, one item he won went for around $50, the other item he won went for over $6,300. I've never shipped an order this high. I'm not that worried about loss or damage as I will insure the package, however is there any way it can be shipped that can prevent a buyer from saying they received an empty package, or some other type of similar complaint? Should I just ship it USPS and hope everything goes OK?

Sadly if a scammer is intent on scamming you, there isn't much you can do to prevent it.
Not easy to fight an INAD or an empty box claim.
Send that item signature required, you must ship anything $750+ to get any seller protection with sig confirmation.
Insure it YES!
Good Luck to you!!

USPS Registered Mail is the most secured method as far as item not being lost.

I just looked and that is a letter/document so yes, registered mail, return receipt required.
That isn't a high scam area as far as I know so hopefully it's a collector and everything will be fine.

You have some very interesting stuff.
If it is something like the items you have for sale, less likely to scam.
Jewelry stores, pawn shops, etc send gold etc via a registered mail sealed package.
It used to be flawless and the standard.
Fedex and UPS also offer registered services for high value items.

If I insure the items what difference would it make if I send it registered mail or regular first class mail with signature confirmation? I would be reimbursed if it was lost or damaged either way, correct? I'm way more concerned about the buyer saying they did not receive the correct items or there was nothing in the package.

Ship it USPS Express with Signature Required.
You can see a lot more about the buyer than I can (all I can see is the raw feedback number and their 30 day activity by Category). As usual for your customers it all looks solid so I would not be concerned at all with the "empty box" scenario.
Once again (many times) you have proved that for the right items Auctions starting at 1 cent IS the way to go!

With Registered Mail the item is not going to be left at you door step, in your mail box or in a Post Office Box. Someone will actually have to physically accept and sign for the item.
When you look at how much it is to insure with Regular Mail or Register Mail I would go Register Mail.

I would check the USPS site, but it used to be over (1 or 2 K$) cant remember exactly.. All required registered mail. If you want to insure it for 6k (yes) you had no choice. Do not mess around with this. Full insurance etc.

I'm not sure what the USPS site says, however I'm sure Stamps.com will insure items for $6,000.

Sorry to say you can only hope your buyer is honest. Shipping insurance will cover a lost package and I would get it along with having them sign for it.

Heck, depending on where it's going. For $6,000, I'd probably hand delivery it and write off the mini vacation. Food expenses are 100% this year. Lobster morning, noon, and night might be in order.

All carriers have the exact weight of the item shipped. An empty box would not weigh the same. Have the empty box shipped back and you have proof with difference in weight. That is enough proof to take to the states attorney for an investigation of fraud by the individual and anyone else involved in that transaction. Market Places will he changing in the future when congress finally passes laws to hold them accountable for allowing fraud (a crime) to occur within their systems.
