My seller shipped an (expensive) Priority Mail package to my house, and currently it's in transit. Should arrive tomorrow. Is there some way I can have the package held at the post office? I'd rather pick it up myself than to have it sit on the porch all day since I'm not at home.
Don't know if I can do it online or give the post office a call?
thanks!

I do have a usps account and I logged in, put in the tracking number, but I don't see the option to change delivery info.
Just to make sure you're looking in the right place, I see the link near the top of the page, under the Status section that shows "In Transit" and the last scan location. It says "Change Delivery Instructions".

Don't worry about calling. I'm a mail carrier and we are getting tons of these calls this time of year. Call early though (8am) so you can be sure to catch it before the carrier leaves.

Tracking is not at ALL reliable right now. It's about the worst I've seen in years. Even though it shows 'due today' it may not even be in your area yet. Try to call your LOCAL Post Office (not the national 800 number) sometime between 730 and 8AM. My local (small) PO will answer the phone then, but others may not.

Well early this morning I saw the package arrived at my local post office, so I went online and the "Change Delivery Instructions" option was there. I logged into my USPS account and I chose the option to have it held at my local post office. It said the "estimated cost" is $0.00. So I submitted it. But then I got a confirmation email that said pretty much the estimate is only an estimate and I will be charged a fee equal to the shipping fee. Wait, so I have to pay a fee?
My package still went out for delivery at 9am today. I was like, ok, my request was too late, so I arranged to have a neighbor pick it up. Now at 4pm I checked tracking and it says that my package was just "intercepted." I don't know if I'll have to pay a fee for this "intercepted" package? This is dumb because when I submitted the request, the website said that the estimated fee is "$0.00".

You will probably need to pay around $10.

From the brochure, it looks like there is only supposed to be a fee if you select the "deliver to a different domestic address" option. The "hold at post office", "deliver to a neightbor" and "hide under the rose bush" examples all show $0.00.
In addition, even that fee is only supposed to be charged if they actually change the delivery, which in your case did not happen.

Thanks everyone for your help! The package went back to the post office and I picked it up the next day. They didn't charge a fee either. I got my items all safe and sound!
Merry Christmas!
