Hello. I have just recently sold 2 items that were large and fragile. I chose FED EX in the listing because, GA was VERY expensive.
When I went to purchase the label, it did show a retail price of 80ish dollars, with a 50ish dollar discount from EBAY, then the actual price.
I went to look at how FED EX handles their dimensional shipping on boxes that are larger but lighter. (Which both of these are) When I did that, using their formula of LxWxH /139 My box would equal 43lbs.
The site says they will look at the box I am mailing (just under 11lbs) and that 43lb and choose the higher weight to assess mailing fee.
My question….did EBAY use the 43lb weight to quote me the price for the label or am I going to get hit with a “gotcha” price?
The items were only 100 ea and buyer ended up paying 26 and 27 dollars to ship them, (actual price of the discounted EBAY shipping amount)
Please advise. I do not want to pay the buyer to take these items from me,
Thank you

https://www.ebay.com/shp/Calculator
Enter 11 lbs for the weight, drop the dims down to something like 6 x 5 x 4, and see how the rate compares

For that package I would use a shipper who specializes in shipping and offers the same discounted prices.

eBay automatically factors in dimensional weight.
