Help ASAP! My item is being returned where is tracking number?

One of my buyers bought a used item that I described as used and had some scratches from regular use. I also posted pictures, offered to answer any questions, and offered to provide more pictures. The buyer did not contact me st all and only won the bid. After they received their item they said I did not mention a crack. I disagreed because it did not affect performance of the item. They opened a return case with eBay and won. Now eBay gave them a refund item from my Paypal and I still did not receive my item back. Where can I find the tracking number that the buyer has provided for the return? The details on the case say a tracking number was provided but it was not listed next to it. Please help I am very upset that I am getting scammed somehow. Thank you.

This is where your tale got muddled: If you did not click Accept return and provided a return label, and your buyer escalated to eBay and eBay issued a return label, then eBay will not show you the tracking number to prevent you from preventing the return.

If you tried to battle your buyer on this claim and did not approve their Request for Return, it sounds like the buyer Escalated the issue to Ebay.  That is not a good idea to have this happen as a seller.  By doing this you allow Ebay to make the determination and Ebay can allow the buyer to keep the item and give them a full refund from YOUR money.  It is in the rules for returns.

Sellers need to resolve Requests for returns while they are requests.  Your opinion of this not being a SNAD does not matter.  If your buyer files a SNAD, Ebay is going to side with them, so just approve the return, get it back and refund.  Then you have the item back so you can resell it.

And if you would have gotten this item back, while you didn't think the crack was worth mentioning, now you know that a buyer might and you should take a pic of it and call it out in the listing.  As sellers of used items, we often times just don't know what will and won't be important to a buyer, so always better to be cautious and state everything.

@dandelion54,

There is an unwritten Golden Rule for all ebay sellers.

Describe all items like there are no photos.

Photograph them as if there is no description.

Live by it or face the consequences.

It is better to have feeback saying "better than described" than paying for returns and or getting defects and negs.

Help ASAP! My item is being returned where is tracking number?

I offered to take the item back if they paid shipping. They did not answer and I asked them what they play on doing. Then they filed an appeal. I hope they do t refund and let them keep the item. That is basically stealing. It said my item was returned on December 3 when I click return details it also says the buyer provided a tracking number. I can’t click where it says tracking number and nothing is listed. I also didn’t receive my item. I’m really worried. How can I prove I did not receive my item? I do not even have my shipping address to receive items listed to my knowledge.

In a SNAD case you have to pay return shipping. They don't have to answer. You had to send them a return shipping label if you want the item back. They get a refund.

Your mistake here was that while you may have "emailed" them and said you would take the return, you had no right as a seller to require them to pay for return shipping.  That is against the rules of Ebay for all sellers.  ALL sellers are responsible for return shipping on a SNAD no matter what the seller's return policy says.

So that was the first mistake.  The second one was not actually accepting the return in the Request for return the buyer filed and issuing the return label.  Because you didn't do that, the buyer was able to escalate the claim to Ebay.  Then Ebay did what they did that has put you in this mess.  It is all in the rules on returns.  You really need to know these rules intimately so that you can best protect yourself.

I am sorry, but you need to write this one off and move on.  Never to repeat what happened on this case.  It happens to all of us, so you are in good company.  Learn and move forward.  Don't dweal, it will drive you crazy.
