Has anyone used USPS Package Intercept?

I received a message from a buyer, letting me know that they just realized their account had their old address and wanted to know what to do. The item purchased from me is in-transit to their old address. I let them know to contact their old Post Office to see if they could forward their package to their new address. Or if they already have a forwarded address then the package will be re-directed to their new address.

2nd email from buyer, letting me know that they contact their USPS and only the shipper is able to make changes. Available option on USPS is to intercept the package and have the item ship back to the sender.

The buyer would like me to intercept the package and have it ship back to me. Just wondering if anyone has used this option with USPS and is it worth it? The cost is $15.25 per request and will be coming out of my pocket.  I would like to believe the buyer when they promise to pay me the cost of intercepting after I receive the item back.

Any advice, tips or ideas is greatly appreciated! Thank you!

If its an eBay claim of non receipt of item you are covered if delivery shows it is delivered.

If a payment dispute (charge back) you may be covered but I would not bet on it.

Cost of the item is questionable on how to deal with this.

Intercept does not always work.

Yet if they are saying they are willing to pay:

I think I would try and of course cancel sale after getting item back: relist with the fee added to the price and let them know you are doing so, before canceling the sale.

Best to try it if the item is worth it.

It’s up to the buyer to provide the correct shipping address.
There is absolutely no reason you should recall this package.

Thanks for the reply. It's a $20 item with a First Class Postage. I don't mind refunding a buyer if I receive my item back but I don't want to pay $15 to have ship back to me.

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately, my answers and recommendations on what they should do was not enough.

You will not be required to refund IF the item is even returned to you.

You have no reason to continue communicating with this person.

This is on them to find a resolution and you simply have no way to help them.

Thank you so much for the information and advice, it’s truly appreciated! I’ll go ahead and try to intercept and hopefully I get my item back. At least it’ll show the buyer that I’m going above my due diligence, at least I hope. Thanks again!

Why on earth would you (or the buyer) pay $15 to intercept a $20 item?  If the package is undeliverable, it will be returned to you.
