It's individual to every seller. Just make sure you can get your things out by the handling time you select.

Good answers posted for you already. 

If you are selling "wants", like used clothing etc, you can probably get  away with longer handling times. 2-3 days.

Selling of items needed for repairs or installations would benefit with short handling time, i.e.  1-day or same day.

Above all, set a handling time you can meet every time.

If you are shipping items yourself then you just need to set your handling time long enough to ensure that you can get to your post office and have a package scan to prove that your package has been shipped. As you are in Sri Lanka, I do not know exactly how your post office transmits tracking data to other countries.

If you are planning to drop-ship items from a supplier in China (which is a really bad idea, but not what you were asking about), then you need to be sure that your Handling time will be enough days for the drop-shipper to get your package in the mail.
