Got CHARGED to PRINT a shippinglabel

Has anyone else had this issue with ebay?   I pulled ALL my listings as they have messed up shipping fees 4 times now.  I just got charged to PRINT a UPS shipping label.  The buyer PAID for the shipping and then I get CHARGED to print it?   I spoke with customer service and he was LESS than helpful--just kept saying there's a charge to print the label.

NO THERE IS NOT!!!

I don't know WHO to turn to now.  I am BEYOND frustrated.

No. Switching carriers (or carrier service) is a great way to get positive feedback.

For small items weighing over a pound, the best retail prices overall with be from the only economy shipping service offered, viz., FX Smartpost; albeit, FXSP admits the worst delivery time. When the item is paid for, final value fees on shipping lock to the FXSP retail rate. Then you shop for the best discounted service. Your choices will be FX Ground or Home Delivery, UPS Ground, or even in some cases USPS Priority Mail. All of these service are standard shipping or better. In most cases, the discounted shipping charge to the seller will come in less than FXSP.  So, by changing the service and/or carrier, you've upgraded the "buyer requested" service and they receive the item in a timely manner when they expected it to take all but forever when they purchased the item.

The only rub is listing FXSP with its delivery time in attendance. Or how can the buyer complain when you've only upgraded their shipping service?

Any other way to approach this throws money at eBay final value fees and much more at the carrier.

Math is hard.

No, that's the way to earn a big fat neg. I know when my mail carrier comes, but FedEx and UPS can show up anytime between 6am and 9pm.

That's not an upgrade, that's a hassle.

Plus the potential hassle if they decide to leave a pickup notice instead of leaving the package.

An upgrade is only an upgrade if it's the same carrier. If you're going to change carriers, then you need to contact the buyer first.

Many buyers have problems with specific carriers, sometimes related to very local circumstances such as delivery people who are careless about where they leave packages. A few years ago I had a FedEx delivery guy who smoked in the truck, and everything he delivered reeked.  So I never purchased items with FedEx shipping. If you had switched from the USPS shipping that I paid for, to FedEx, I would have been really unhappy.

But that would never happen. IOW, you list FX Smartpost; ship FX Ground or Home Delivery - OR - UPS Ground - OR - USPS Priority Mail.

You two are making the claim that sellers who ship FedEx suffer negative feedback as a result.  I haven't seen that as an issue on these boards; only that eBay overcharging sellers for FedEx shipping is entrenched and systemic...

Where is the good seller who would dare maintain that the wishes of eBay are not their own?

I've bought stuff on purpose that had a slower shipping service and I've had a seller upgrade that service and items arrive when I couldn't get to them yet.  I don't blame the seller for the "upgrade" but it's not what I wanted.  I also hate fed ex.  Like seriously I avoid anyone shipping fedex so if someone shipped that way instead I would be really annoyed

This is one of my major issues with fed ex it's not the only one but they don't ring the doorbell. I'm assuming they knock but I'm not sure as I never hear it and I end up with a we missed you note.  I have a larger house and if you knock I won't hear it in the entire house.

Another thing that often happens with fed ex is it will be on the truck for delivery and then it will have a delivery exception and not get delivered.

They've delivered several busted open packages. Yeah I just don't do fed ex

Also if you list fed ex or UPS and then ship priority mail the buyer may not get it if they use a po box and don't have an at home mailbox

Smart Post and the UPS equivalent are NOT an upgrade. They're actually slower, because two different carrier's handle the package, and good luck filing a damage claim, UPS/FedEX blame USPS and USPS blames them.

On my buying account I've left several neutrals on 2 negs for the seller not honoring the shipping method *I* paid for. Changing shipping method is actually grounds for a NAD because as part of the listing, the seller lists what shipping method they use.

Non sequitur; it is not eBay's policy to allow the seller to suffer negative feedback through no fault of their own; rather, it is to exact tribute from the seller for the better part of a decade over this secret relationship they enjoy with FedEx.

It is incumbent on the seller, in any home economics sense, not to needlessly throw money at fees and carriers. That is exactly what you all are proposing.

If that's true, then why does eBay not only allow it, but hands you a menu when it comes time to ship?

Downgrade the shipping to me, and very likely your donut will not be green.

eBay offers many things. Does not mean that taking them up on the offer is the right thing to do.

eBay listed "media mail" as a shipping choice when I sold some freezer parts. I could have saved (until USPS did a charge back) some $$$ on that choice.

I proposed listing economy service and upgrading shipping in terms of delivery time with valid services if cheaper.

Not a problem to list with economy shipping, but your posts appear to be suggesting that using an alternate shipping method is OK

Sine qua non in solving for a tautology.  But yes, the buyers run the asylum:

Seller listed a delivery time of 2 weeks. *** IT CAME IN 3 DAYS *** - Horrible seller!!!!!!!!!
