Global shipping question

I have a buyer who is wanting to know where his package is. It was mailed through the Global Shipping Program in Kentucky. I have the tracking information and it shows it made it to his country of origin but has yet to be delivered. The way I understand it is I'm not responsible if it is lost through the global shipping program, but what do I tell the customer? Do I tell them they need to contact the global shipping program or do I have to do that? This package got marked international shipping by accident. I don't ship overseas so this is all new to me. Confusing to say the least.

Thank you.

Global shipping question

What is the buyers estimated delivery date?  If it is after that time tell them to open an item not received case. Paypal will likely put a temporary hold on those funds but once it has been deemed that it is a gsp non delivery problem, the gsp will refund the buyer.

Tell them to call their carrier or eBay. Also you can opt out of the Global Shipping Program if it is something you don't like. I personally did because if there is a return eBay will tell you to figure out how to supply a return label on your own or eat the loss.

Global shipping question

Thanks. I went back and unchecked the international shipping box in my template once I had this order. Some how or another I had it checked, I'm just thankful there wasn't any more ordered before I got that fixed. I don't like shipping internationally.

Global shipping question

Just for clarification...

eBay Global Shipping is not the same as offering International Shipping.

Anybody can offer to ship internationally. When you do that you must fill out customs paperwork and then get everything sent off with the shipper. The eBay Global Shipping Program is a free service whereas if you are enrolled, then eBay will take care of the customs paperwork for you, you just have to mail it to a domestic place and they take care of the rest.

Regardless of if you use eBay Global Shipping or do International Shipping on your own, it has no effect on returns. If there is a return under the eBay Money Back Guarantee then the seller will have to manually arrange the return shipping.

Essentially, if international returns are your concern then simply only sell domestically. Otherwise, the Global Shipping Program is more of an insurance policy against the item arriving damaged or getting lost on it's way to the international buyer.

Thank you for that clarification. I didn't know that. Always learning. Thanks again.

It was suppose to be delivered the 21st. It's a week past due already. I'll have him contact ebay about it since it was global shipping.
