Global Shipping Program overriding other international shipping options

I have been listing auctions with 3 shipping options (GSP, Priority Mail International & eBay International Standard Delivery). I have noticed when I look at the auctions only GSP is available. I called the help desk and was told that GSP  automatically overrides any other options "because it is safer for me".  I then stated that I can revised the auctions to add the other two options, he looked at the auction and said only GSP is showing as an option because of the AUTOMATIC override. So I am under the assumption that I have multiple options available to my buyers for international shipping and the reality is that they are only seeing GSP. Problem being is you can't combine shipping with GSP. If the buyer pays immediately for multiple items you can't send an invoice with any other combined shipping options. Thanks eBay for making decisions for me!

I‘be never heard of eBay giving buyers the option to use/not use GSP. If the seller chooses GSP, and if GSP serves the buyer’s country, then it goes via GSP. The other international options are for countries NOT served by GSP.

I can not click GSP and offer the other orations and  it would ship with one of the other option even if  GSP serves the buyer’s country. GSP is much slower than Priority, if the buyer is willing to pay the additional to get it quicker it should be up to them, but they won't even see Priority as an option even if I had it selected from what eBay is telling me.

It's  been like that since the gsp started. Buyers have never been able to see a second international option if the seller is using the gsp.

We get all kinds of warnings from eBay when listing items. The least they could do is give a warning that other shipping options are not available when GPS is checked.

I can not speak for all forms of International Shipping, but for the two eBay options (Global Shipping Program & eBay Standard International Shipping) the Global Shipping has always overrode the Standard International when I selected both within the listing.

As for price, I have found that if a item is two pounds or less and valued at no more than $100 then Standard is cheaper but mostly takes longer to arrive.

I have found both options to be available to all countries I have shipped to.

As a Canadian eBay user, I've never seen listings where the GSP is offered in conjunction with the seller's own shipping options.  My understanding is that enabling the GSP on your listings does indeed override the seller's own shipping options except for countries where the GSP is not offered.

Sellers can exempt certain countries from the GSP and have their own shipping options for those countries, however.

The GSP was created much more with sellers in mind than buyers, although buyers in some countries may prefer it as it usually bypasses their problematic customs offices and postal systems, and some buyers prefer having their taxes/duties and customs charges paid up-front rather than at the time of delivery, as is the case with items sent by mail.

If I were an ex-pat selling in the United States selling the type of merchandise you are, I'd give some serious thought to sending my merchandise directly to Canada without the Global Shipping Program or International Standard Delivery.  Shipping for your GSP-enabled items appears to be running around US$20 right now and both shipping methods are generally slower than First Class International.

Hi,  I recommend highly that you remove the GSP option and use USPS.   Not only is it impossible to track your shipment, whatever you are sending goes to a central warehouse and recieves very rough handling.    And also, as in other comments, impossible to combine shipments and do invoicing as you would normally expect.    To turn off GSP go to your "Account Settings"  and under "Selling" you will see shipping preferences -- you need to edit to dis-enroll from GSP.   After that you will need to edit all your listings in bulk to reset the shipping options to your preferences.  Like you, somehow this option was automatically selected for me by Ebay and it took a while to get straightened out.

Thank you. Will probably only use GSP for high value items in the future.
