Getting back import charges overseas

Hi there!

I ordered a tablet from US to Germany. This was processed by the Global Shipping Program, Pitney Bowes, Inc.. They got money for shipping and import charges for that. The tablet is faulty and has to be returned. The return case is opened and my request was accepted. I have to ship the item directly to the seller. So I asked from where I will get the import charges back. Seems quiet logical to me that Pitney Bowes takes care of a return and refund, too. The seller says, it´s not their business. I should ask Pitney Bowes. I asked Pitney Bowes and they say, it´s not their business, I should ask Ebay. Ebay wants me to ask here on board. So I do. Maye I´ll try to call but my spoken English skills are not the best and I´d like to avoid that.

Can anyone help me and let me know who takes care about refunding the import charges in case of an overseas return?

Thank you in advance...

Call your local Customs Office, they should be able to direct you in the right direction - whatever the amount was, it was forwarded to your Customs Office via Pitney Bowes.  I am unaware of exactly how the process is, but they should advise you how to proceed

When the seller refunds the portion of the money they received eBay should refund the import fees and the international shipping portion. Just curious...is the problem with the tablet something that happened in the shipping process?  If so, then you may not have to send it back.

If the problem isn’t shipping related, how is the return shipping being paid for?  The seller is responsible for return shipping if the item is not as described,  The seller cant issue an international shipping label so they would have to send funds through PayPal.

The issues have nothing to do with the shipping process, which was safe and sound. The device itself is faulty but the problems are not quiet obviously recognizable.

Yes, the seller will refund the shipping fees if I send and invoice for that, too.

The payment for shipping fees and import charges was to global.shipping.support@pb.com.

It is stated on the Ebay GSP information page for buyers (http://pages.ebay.com/shipping/globalshipping/buyer-tnc.html) that:

"Payment to Pitney Bowes: PayPal will transmit the balance of your payment to Pitney Bowes's PayPal account (identifiable with the description "Pitney Bowes Inc." or "Pitney Bowes Limited")."

Oh, wow, look what I´ve found there:

"For GSP Items located in the United States that you purchase under GSP and that you return to your Seller, you will not be eligible for, and you will not receive, a refund of any Program Fees that you paid to Pitney Bowes"

The thing here is not, what is a "program fee"? The payment to Pitney Bowes has two parts: Import charges + shipping. Seems both of it is a "program fee"?

That means, I will have to try to get the import charges back from the customs.

The problem here is, I have no customs declaration but just an invoice.....

Oh man.... trouble... 😞 Seems I will have to get it from the customs..

The problem is really, that I don´t have any docs for the import charges...

I´ll ask PB for that.

Cheers.

@*you*can*trust*me*

That section you are quoting refers only to returns that are related to the sellers return policy.......in other words it applies to buyers remorse returns.  eBay/pb DOES refund the import fees  for items that are not as described once the seller refunds you through the return process.   I have seen it happen that way dozens of times.  Sometimes it goes a little smoother than other times but in the end you should be made whole.
