I sold a fairly expensive ($1100 USD) collectible video game to a person in Canada. His main concern was having full insurance value on the piece. I told him that I am unsure if he can insure the game once it has been processed in the shipping hub in Kentucky, but I have found the GSP to be fairly smooth for the most part, and what I can gather to be fairly well protected during international transit. We weren't certain, so he had decided for Priority Mail International (I only charged him a certain amount, I am upgrading it to Priority Express since I can insure beyond 1000). He paid, and I went to print the label, which also incorporates the Customs Forum, but I am restricted to only insuring the game for $1000, and with Pitney Bowes, not USPS.
I am on the fence whether or not to go to the P.O. and physically fill out the Express forum and pay for it in person, or contact the buyer and use the GSP instead, which seems a bit easier and more streamlined (I would cancel the current order and relist).
Any recommendations/input?
Thanks!

I wouldn’t recommend using the GSP for an item that expensive. They often use Intelcom in Canada for the final delivery. Their tracking information is poor and they tend to drop off packages on the porch at houses and not in a secure place at apartment buildings.
Since eBay is phasing out the gsp and bringing in eBay international shipping you may have to use the new program. I’m not sure who EIS are using to deliver in Canada.
As a Canadian buyer I know that I would prefer that you use USPS / Canada Post but that is just my opinion.

Do NOT forget to add SIGNATURE CONFIRMATION. This one is a must for any item $750.oo. The problem is if you ship through GSP, will they add the signature confirmation on their end or will you still be protected if the item is NOT delivered by the courier in Canada. Insurance is really for the seller since the buyer has Ebay's MBG.
