This morning, I received a message, from eBay, that my GSP shipment had been cancelled. Below is the message from eBay:
We are writing to inform you that your recent transaction sold through the Global Shipping Program to [xxxx] cannot be completed.
The item in question has been deemed restricted. This could be due to import/shipping restrictions or eligibility requirements within the Global Shipping Program. The item will not be shipped forward to its final destination and will not be returned to you.
Don’t worry! Your buyer will be notified and refunded automatically by eBay within 72 hours. You will retain the buyer’s original payment. At this time, the transaction is considered complete, and no further action is needed.
The strange thing is that I sent a 12” vinyl record. I’ve probably sold 200 records through the GSP program. It certainly isn’t on the restricted list. There was nothing that could be considered obscene on the cover, inner sleeve, song titles, etc.. This item was going to Japan, so no oddball confusion of the evil influences of Western music 😊.
Customer and I aren’t out anything – he is refunded, and I get to keep his payment. However, it is annoying. The record that I sold is fairly rare – not easy to find, certainly not cheap – which is why a buyer in Japan would care to spend the high GSP costs to get it.
If this just happens on one order, fine. BUT, I do worry, just a bit, that I’ll start to see other issues. I’m likely at ~seven GSP orders per week. If I’m a buyer outside of the U.S., at what point do I stop buying if I get disappointments from this program?
