Free Shipping Returned Item, Neg Feedback Left, Neg Feedback Disappeared

I complied to the seller offers free returns on 6/1 in order to keep the 10%, figuring it would offset my free return costs. So far, I've had 2 returns, both shoes, where buyer picked 'didn't fit'.

The 1st pair was returned a few weeks ago. The buyer removed the bottom stickers and wore them, I guess to determine the fit, which is fair. Except, they did not put the stickers back on the bottoms of the shoes, and I could tell they had been slightly worn, so I subtracted 10% from the refund.

B left me neg fdbk commenting about the 'supposed' stickers and partial refund. I answered saying the next buyer does not get to have the same pristine condition with bottom stickers. etc as they did- not my exact comment, but you get the jist.

This was the 1st neg fdbk I did not mind receiving because it gave me an opportunity to comment showing potential buyers that if they don't return the purchase in the same condition, they will not get a full refund.

The neg showed on my feedback for a few wks and then about an hour ago, the neg just disappeared! So weird! I did not ask ebay or the buyer to remove it. Never experienced this before.

Can anyone explain how this neg got removed without my intervention?

Should I be happy or scared? 😮

Neg removal is a perk of free returns

https://pages.ebay.com/seller-center/seller-updates/2018-spring/seller-protection.html

Starting June 1, 2018, when you offer free returns, you'll have greater control to manage your business, and you can decide to issue partial refunds to buyers. For example, if a buyer uses or damages an item and returns it, you can decide to issue a partial refund and we'll take it from there. If a buyer escalates a case, we'll take care of it for you so you can focus on your business. Plus, we'll protect your reputation from any negative feedback.

The easier you are to offend the easier you are to control.

Sellers are supposed to be protected from negative feedback in this situation.  I would have assumed that the seller would need to contact eBay for removal, but someone else also reported that it appears to be automatic as well.

A rare case of ebay doing what it is supposed to be doing without making 4 calls to 3 continents.

If you have an altar I'd burn something on it because the ebay gods smile upon you.

Why Sellers can’t leave negative feedback to bad buyers? Positive only?

Mainly because some sellers abused the use of negative feedback as revenge against buyers.

Buyers do the same for revenge too but still receive positive feedback.

Correct.

It isn't completely fair, but it is what it is.

eBay does not want to lose buyers. eBay has more sellers/items for sale than it has buyers.
