I'm not sure what happened exactly since this is the first time I've come across this issue. Basically I ordered something and it was going through the shipping process normally and was making good progress toward my residence until it hit a USPS center in Brooklyn (one notorious for screwing things up badly). I read the status as
"Your item was forwarded to a different address at 3:02 pm on November 25, 2017 in BROOKLYN, NY. This was because of forwarding instructions or because the address or ZIP Code on the label was incorrect."
I checked my addresses in ebay and I only use a single address, the same address I've used for years as an ebay user. I also checked with the seller and he told me also used the same address. Since I know I didn't make a typo is it possible that the seller may have inadvertently made an error, or is it more likely that the USPS botched this one up? What should I do at this point? I already plan on calling the Brooklyn center for an update this Monday morning but I'm not holding out given that site's lousy customer service ratings. Is this a normal thing? Super bummed out that I'm out almost $300 as a result of someone's major screw up. Thanks in advance.

Sellers need to ship to the address listed in PayPal and not the ebay address. Have you checked the address in PayPal?

Open a INR case 1 day after the last estimated delivery date. There is no reason to baby sit a package or annoy a seller. If you feel generous, do 5 days after that last day but no longer then 30 days.

Hmm my paypal account only uses one address as well, which is the same as my ebay address.

I would wait and see what the tracking shows this week.
I had an item shipped to me that went back and forth between 2 local post offices 7 times in 2 weeks before it was finally delivered. AND...the Address was correct (actually a PO Box!)

It turns out USPS messed something up but figured it out quickly enough. There was no need to call them as my delivery came last Monday. I understand forwarding issues like this sometimes add days or weeks to delivery; I guess I just lucked out. Thanks all for the responses.
