Forgot to include an item in shipment

Shipped off a package today and when I got back from dropping it off, I saw that I had left out a part. Will I have to pay for a new label or is there a way to go to the shipping labels link and reprint the label with new weight/dimensions? Also, I read that if I do it a certain way, Ebay will see it as a late shipment and I will get a defect. Just need to know the proper way to do this even if it means having to pay again, but of course I'd like to avoid that if possible.

Re: Forgot to include an item in shipment

You will have to purchase another label Smiley Sad   Go to orders, scroll down to shipping labels.  Find that label ( DO NOT CHOOSE REPRINT), choose more actions, and choose print another label and adjust the weight , measurements of the package, and type of shipping service if applicable.  As to the defect-- if you shipped the initial package on time within your specified handling time you'll be fine.  They don't count that 2nd package as late.  Don't feel bad -- we've all done this and had to pay the extra shipping.  Do contact your buyer asap and let them know the situation along w/ the 2nd tracking number of the newly purchased label.  That way when the incomplete order arrives they will not file a snad or request a return along w/ neg. feedback.

Ok yeah thanks,  I figured I would have to pay for another. First time I've left something out... lol had to happen sooner or later.

Re: Forgot to include an item in shipment

I just did the same thing not too long ago.

A spoon escaped from a flatware order and was hiding under the tissue paper.

Next day I caught and shipped the elusive spoon with a new label as it is a new shipment, sent a message to the buyer and thought "oh well - if I get one late shipment, it's not the end of the world."

This was May 20, and neither a late tracking upload or late delivery has shown on my dashboard.

Re: Forgot to include an item in shipment

Print the second label at PayPal using PayPal Shipnow https://www.paypal.com/shiplabel/create/ and don't upload the tracking to eBay just to be safe.

(in the past adding a second tracking number to an eBay transaction reset the shipping clock, and I've seen nothing to indicate that that has changed. The bots might assume the first label was a sacrificial ruse to avoid a late shipment ding for OOS, and the second one is the real one. Anecdotal evidence that a particular seller did not get dinged for adding a second tracking number later does not mean it doesn't happen, just means the bots decided to ignore it.)

Re: Forgot to include an item in shipment

The bots don't ignore dings.

You wouldn't get an OOS defect for a late or second shipment regardless.

Yes, in the past it has reset the clock, but I can factually say I did not get a tracking upload or late shipment ding.

I purchased the 2nd label the next day and shipped that same day.  It arrived one day later than the original shipment delivery.

If it does override the first, the worst you can get is late tracking/scan upload -which only counts for 3 months and a late delivery - which does last for a year.  Both are very survivable.

The purchase was May 18 (Saturday evening).   I shipped the 20th and the 21st.  First Class.  Delivery May 22 & May 23.  Both shipments were actually valid for "on time" delivery, but the 2nd one was not for tracking upload.

Re: Forgot to include an item in shipment

I wasn't saying uploading a second tracking number would produce an OOS defect. I was implying that one reason the bots may have been coded to assign late shipment dings when a second tracking number is uploaded would be to catch/punish sellers who think they can avoid an OOS defect (and late shipment ding and TRS tracking ding) by uploading a tracking number and shipping just an invoice, and then uploading a second number when they finally do ship the item later when it is back in stock.

I'd be more interested to see what happens when a second label is created and tracking uploaded a few days after first label shows delivered (seller forgot a part and buyer said so after receiving the item). Shipping clock resets? Automatic late shipment ding? Maybe TRS uploaded on time metric ignores the clock reset but other metrics do not?
