Forced Priority Shipping?

Does anyone know why my customers are being forced into Priority shipping when I offer 1st Class?  The last two customers I've sold to were only offered Priority rates when I have the items listed for 1st Class only.  I lost a sale because of this.  Something doesn't seem right.

The last 2 sales I see you had were a few ounces of yarn which could go FC  but those listings did not offer it.  They only offered Prioirty or Parcel Select.

Which might have carried over from the third wool listing, which was over 1 pound so it  offered Priority.

Forced Priority Shipping?

I had a buyer contact me because she didn't want to pay for Priority. When I checked the item, it was set for 1st Class on my end, but she was still getting charged for Priority. We ended up having her go through with the purchase and I refunded the difference. This should not be happening.

I doubt this is a glitch but rather a problem with the way your shipping set up.

What is the weight you have in for the last item you sold (the 3 oz of red yarn)?

The expedited shipping rate doesn't even make sense going to my destination unless you have a handling fee.

Is it possible you input the weight in pounds rather than ounces?    And are you

sure you have "package type" as 'Package/Large Envelope"....... I'd start by checking all those things.

Forced Priority Shipping?

I suspect the problem is user error, such as an incorrect template. However, a simple fix is to select the fixed-rate option for anything weighing under 1 lb. You can select FCPS and name any amount you wish to charge. You also can select Priority Mail and type in any amount. Make sure you list the lowest-cost option first. In other words, avoid calculated shipping so that nothing can change. For example, I sell magazine ads. I designate domestic FCPS at $3.50 and Priority Mail at $7.00. For the latter, I would use a cardboard FRE. If the carded ad happens to be too wide or long -- requiring a larger, plain envelope -- I realize the cost to Zones 7 and 8 is greater than $7.00 but my product investment is so small it really doesn't matter. Besides, I could send a full pound of ads (maybe 5 to 10 of them!) for the same cost, which is a major benefit to buyers who order in quantity. One glitch that might occur -- although I have not experienced it as either buyer or seller -- is that Checkout might not show multiple options. Generally, there's a list that defaults via radio button to the first choice, not necessarily the lowest cost. However, an eBay/Paypal programming error could eliminate that list or make a random choice. Or maybe the first option was Priority Mail and the buyer failed to notice additional classes of mail. By the way, buyers in most cases can place items in the shopping cart and request a revised invoice. That doesn't work for "free shipping" or IPR, which is unfortunate because sellers should be able to offer additional classes of mail or courier service upon request. ~~C~~
