Went to ship a 14oz package today and lowest shipping was $9.90 priority. Red writing came up saying First Class is only up to 13 oz. Are you kidding me. A 99 cent item with 9.90 shipping. The size was 7" x 5" x 4". Is this happening to everyone or is this a glitch?

You can ship a 14 ounce package first class if you purchase shipping label online.
At retail (post office) you can only ship up to 13 ounces.
Has been this way for a few years now.

The weight limit for ONLINE postage for First Class packages is still 15.99 ounces. But RETAIL is still 13 ounces.

An item number for your sold item will put lots of peoples eyeballs on your original listing to see what might have happened.
As to First Class shipping, I just sent a 15.7 ounce box as First Class yesterday and had no problems issuing the label through eBay, so I'm fairly certain that the weight limit didn't change with the postage increase Sunday.

The postage increases on Sunday August 29 did not affect online prices for First Class packages.

I used the ebay calculator and clicked on ebay rates, but still no First class.

It's working OK for me. Are you sure you checked off "Package" and not "Large envelope"?

Nor the weight limits, which is what I was trying to say (poorly)

Are you trying to print a label, or jusr-t setting up a listing?
If setting up a listing without passing online savings on to the buyer it will go to Priority to calculate after 13 oz.

In shipping preferences you probably have your setting set up to charge the retail rate..not the discounted usps rate. Since the retail max. weight is 13 ounce, any item heavier than that will not show first class. You can either change your settings to include the USPS discount OR list the item as 13 ounces on the sell your item form as I believe that you pay the same price for 13 oz as you do for 15.9 ounces.

I hope this isn't what is called "hijacking" a thread...
you mention passing on the online savings to the buyers. As a seller when I choose "ebay rates" then go to my listings to verify, it does NOT show the discounted price so then I have to go back and just get an average cost and put in all buyers pay the same cost. I make a few extra cents on those closer to me and lose a few cents on those on the west coast. Its only a matter of.25 to .50 either way but it makes me feel dishonest.
When I was on the phone with ebay a while ago and mentioned this, I was told by the rep that buyers don't get the discount and that it was only for sellers to see. Anybody else having this issue? Postage cost have risen significantly over the past few years and some of my listings I just cant rationalize the cost of shipping so I don't bother listing the item.

Is there a checkbox for "Apply to current active listings"?

Have you set up your shipping preferences on the following page so that the carrier discounts get passed on to your buyers?
