Filed for a return, ebay wants me to ship the item but I don't have it as the seller never shipped.

Hi there,

I bought an item 4 days ago, the seller opened a cancellation request the next day. I asked him why my order was cancelled and he explained that the item had broken. He never shipped the item, and never went forward with the cancellation. I had already paid him so now not only do I not have my item, but I don't have my money back either. Today I filed for a return, apparently that was a mistake because Ebay now wants me to print a label and return said item- which I never received in the first place.

What do I do now? How can I get my money back? Previously with Ebay if am item wasn't returned on time the selller doesn't give a refund (even when I had shipped the item back). I'm worried that I won't be able to get a refund. Thanks in advance for any help!

The seller should have refunded you right away when they saw the item was broken.

You opened the wrong case, so now you need to go to PayPal and open a case for ITEM NOT RECEIVED.

You will have to wait until the last estimated delivery date has passed before you can open the case.

Alright thank you! However, I didn't pay with a Paypal account, I paid with my cc. Can I still open a case with them?

Yes, as credit cards are processed through PayPal.

NO you can’t file with PayPal if you didn’t pay with PayPal. PayPal May process the payment but it does NOT qualify for buyer protection because it’s a guest payment. File a chargeback with your credit card issuer.

You will need to file a dispute with your credit card company. Call the number on the back of the card and file it ASAP. Keep hard (printed out) copies of all correspondence between you and the seller. If you don't automatically have eBay messages duplicated as emails to your email account, forward those messages to your email address. Save them to a subfolder in your email account and print them to PDF files and save those in another folder on your computer. Print the emails out. Take screenshots of all correspondence as well, and save those in a separate image folder on your computer or mobile device.

CC companies are generally good about reversing a charge to your card in cases like this, but they may ask for proof that you paid for an item and the sale was subsequently cancelled by the seller, but not refunded to your card account.
