Living in Las Vegas as I do, I've ordered a lot of stuff from Los Angeles, both via eBay and Newegg, and  I routinely get said items with a couple of days via USPS.

My reason for this post is the fact I ordered a laptop battery via eBay from a vendor showing his location was in Los Angeles. Since I needed this battery soonest, I rejected a couple of other vendors who were elsewhere, and paid a bit more, expecting the battery to arrive quickly. This was not to happen. The battery was ordered on Nov 18, shipped the next day, and eBay showed an expected delivery date of Nov 28 (TEN days to get from Los Angeles to Las Vegas? not quite 240 miles???). I've ordered items from Newegg in the morning and had them via USPS the next afternoon.. Tracking shows the item as follows:

This is as of today, November 25th, a full week since I ordered the item..

I generally pay no attention to eBays delivery estimate as I pretty much

ALWAYS get items long before the estimate. Apparently this doesn't apply

to things sent by FedEx "SmartPost".. I think I'd call it FedEx "StupidPost"...

You should NOT ignore eBay's delivery estimate. It's a good indication of where the item is located and handling time which is often hidden from a buyers view. Smartpost is slow but is very cost effective for the buyer and seller. Many sellers offer faster shipping methods (ALL my listings offer faster), but I find buyers almost ALWAYS choose the slower Smartpost because they like the cheaper method.

Thanks for the reply.. I guess I learned my lesson to not order anything that uses FedEx "SmartPost" again.. Taking 10 days to get a small item from Los Angeles to Las Vegas is beyond absurd.. In ten days somebody could bicycle the darned item from LA to Las Vegas.. Other items I've bought on eBay took perhaps 1/2 to 2/3 of the time that eBay's "estimate" showed, which is why I said I *previously* didnt pay much attention to the estimate.. Lesson learned..

I detest last mile service, and I will drop a neg on a seller who does not reveal in the listing that they use it.

Check the shipping tab.  If you see economy shipping on something that can be shipped by first- class package up to 15.99 oz (and not oversized), or priority, or the shipping charge is lower than usual, hit the back button!
