FexEx SmartPost and PO Boxes (Economy Shipping)

I have a question about FedEx SmartPost.  A lot of sellers hate it, I've had excellent results with it and I ship porcelain with VERY little issues.  However, I can't ship to PO Boxes.  Now FedEx SmartPost uses FedEx to ship the item to the nearest Post Office and then USPS completes the delivery.  Why would that exclude PO Boxes??????   I can understand it for straight FedEx but not SmartPost.

Just for clarity I have the shipping option set to Economy because I do compare to see what's the least expensive for the buyer.  But all the options use USPS for the final delivery.

Not sure why this wouldn't be an option. I recommend reaching out to FedEx about this shipping service to see if they can elaborate!

Today's chat ended before I could respond.  The issue is when I try to print the shipping label on eBay, I get the error message the FedEx SmartPost cannot be used to deliver to a PO Box.  I don't think this is a FedEx issue but an eBay issue.

Oh, yes, I understand now. I just check the FedEx site for info on this and found that it should ship to P.O. box, no problem. I will reach out via email to get some screenshots from you of the error you see so I can pass along these examples to our shipping teams!

All major mail order companies who use FedEx Smartpost or UPS Surepost specify that the destination address MUST be a street address, not a PO box.

There's nothing to investigate here -- just specify the street address of the USPS facility where the PO box is located. Each zip code generally has only 1 location and it's listed on the USPS website.

No, in order to print the label you have to remove the PO box from the address.

So replace "PO Box" with that post office's street address.

I would suspect that nullifies what little seller protection exists against an INR claim.

How would it nullify anything when all ebay goes by is the delivery zip code? You didn't change the address or ship to a different zip code so nothing is nullified.

If you ship to an address different than one of the  addresses in paypal you are open to INR claims.  I've seen to many people run into this to ever change an address.  It's either right or the order is cancelled for a problem with the address.  Buyer can correct the address in Paypal and eBay and repurchase.  I have a nice message that I send prior to the cancellation explaining what they have to do and why.

@dtexley3, where are you making this up --

have you read the potency on item not deceived?

http://pages.ebay.com/help/sell/item-not-received.html#provide

If a buyer opens a request about an item that they haven't received, you can resolve the request by providing proof of delivery. We ask you to provide tracking information that shows:

The buyer's address, displaying at least the city and state or ZIP code of the address shown on either the Order Details page or PayPal's Transaction Details page.

Notice dares no mention of the second line, nor the first line.

eBay only checks the last line: City and state, or the zip code.
