Fedex Smartpost

The past week or so every Fedex Smartpost has cost me more than the customer has paid. It's never been more than a $1 difference but don't see why this is happening. I'm not changing the weight or dimension before printing the label so it's not for either of those reasons.

Do yourself a favor and switch to USPS. It's faster, for which your buyers will be thankful, not as rough on your packages, being handled by one company instead of SmartPost by two, and doesn't cost much more, now that FedEx is overcharging you.

Plus, at your first damage claim, you will swear off FedEx SmartPost forever.

you have to use smartpost and home delivery and usps.  Don't let other sellers kid you.  They never looked at the prices.  Their are surcharges in smart post that ebay can't pick up.

FedEx Smartpost should be bannished and outlawed from use on Ebay.

When in BUYER mode . . . when I pay the shipping fee and the SELLER lists another delivery service then instead ships using "FedEx Smartpost" . . . an automatic NEGATIVE feedback is placed.

So called "FedEx Smartpost" is a terribly poor service. Had a package awhile ago shipped from New Jersey to here in Pennsylvania (next door state) that took over a month to be delivered via FedEx "Garbage post." That parcel went from New Jersey to Texas and then bounced around the state of Minnisota and back to Texas. From Texas, the parcel disapeared for a few days and showed up for a time in North Carolina and then back to New Jersey. It was handed over to the USPS in some sort of formal ceremony and was tossed into our driveway next day. "Smartpost" is what happens when a mismanaged and chaotic private delivery service (FedEx) couples with a quasi-government agency (U.S. Postal Service).  A hidious hybrid autocratic monster is created! Would be better off having the old Soviet Union handling package delivery.

eBay needs to protect it's BUYERs by making SELLERS first send notification if they intend to ship by a carrier that is different from what is listed on the AUCTION page.  In that situation I paid $20 for USPS Priority Mail.    That Seller got a big fat RED NEGATIVE FEEDBACK. 

At present I have another situation very similar happening. Seller listed USPS Priority Mail as the service. Paid $25 shipping from North Carolina to here in PA.   That's usually a couple of days time via Priority MAil. So far, that package has been in transit bouncing around from place to place close to two weeks.     eBay needs to do something about this rotten "FedEx Smartpost" debacle.  Why not ban it's use?

I wish I had known about the eBay Community before I used the FedEx SmartPost, since my one experience was bad enough to never want to use it again in the future. I agree that eBay should remove it as an option, given how many complaints are showing up here!   Sellers and Buyers beware!!!

I have used Smart Post for years with no problems. The trick is knowing what all the limitations and charges are (just like using UPS)  occasionaly, it might cost me an extra buck but just as many times it was a buck less than what the ebay calculator displayed.

Its true that getting a claim resolved is very difficult but since I build self insurance into the price of my items, its not an issue for me. Nor have I ever had a package damaged or lost.

Today I shipped two packages Smartpost.

From CA to MD. Smartpost cost was $9.54

Priority Mail $37.45 and USPS Parcel Select $14.90

From CA to FL Smartpost cost was $10.59

Priority Mail $43.65 and USPS Parcel Select $17.56

Curio, what you are describing is bait and switch. No different than a seller saying they will ship Priority Mail and then shipping it Media Mail or Parcel Select. Should ebay ban media mail and Parcel select?
