Fedex Backdates Delivery?

Has anyone experienced this scenario before with Fedex backdating deliveries? 

I shipped Fedex through Ebay with a delivery date of 12/10.  On the 10th, the Fedex tracking shows out for delivery, but never updates delivered.  The buyer puts in a claim item not received.  Fast forward to 12/28 on the last day before Ebay steps in and the tracking still shows 12/10 out for delivery.  I refund the buyer since it had been 18 days since last movement and I also put a claim in with Fedex.   On 12/31, I receive an alert from Fedex that the item was delivered on 12/11.    I closed the Ebay dispute with a refund because nothing had happened for 2.5 weeks.  Now with the item magically delivered back on the 11th (but told me on the 31st), I can't file an insurance claim.  Am I out of luck with an appeal with Ebay since I refunded and didn't fight during the dispute?

So who is telling the truth?   FedEx or the Buyer?    Either FedEx did deliver it but did not mark it and you got a dishonest buyer, or FedEx is lying about delivering it.   Either way it’s **bleep**.

In the first scenario the buyer owes you money.

In the second scenario FedEx owes you money 

In the real world, you the seller are left holding the bag.   I think I would take it up with Fedaex first.   How much was the item just curious...  Hopefully this is not worth the stress of worrying about.

Yes, I have experienced the same with FedEx deliveries.  I called but they did not seem to care.

$300 security camera.  I'm thinking Fedex did deliver, but for some reason the scanner wasn't uploaded correctly.  I'm going with the buyer was being dishonest and realized the tracking didn't show anything other than out for delivery.   The buyer was messaging many times about getting a replacement, then wanted a refund.    Once they got the refund, I never heard from them again. 

Ebay's appeal department is supposed to reach out to me, after I spoke to a CS rep earlier today.  Let's see if that happens.   I never heard from FedEx regarding my insurance claim, but I guess that doesn't matter now that the package was delivered.

Well, Ebay appeals got back to me.  Ebay basically said that since at the time the only tracking available was "out for delivery" for 18 days, the only thing they could do is refund and I had no other choice.  They also said I cannot appeal that decision.  They recommend I send a manual invoice to the buyer and hope they pay (yea right), to contact Fedex for a list package (although it was technically delivered) and file a report with law enforcement.
