I have now had 2 buyers tell me their FedEx package shows it was delivered but claim they don't have it. I dropped off maybe 5 packages for FedEx and 3 have scanned and show some travel, but these 2 don't even show they were scanned and accepted ... but then they say they were delivered today (same time) in MY city (not buyers) and the signature says it was signed for by "XXX."
Any advice? Has this happened to anyone else?

Yes, kind of. Shipper's lot said the item would ship USPS parcel select. Bought 10/24. 11/8 Presumably it was the seller that marked the item shipped with a fedex ground tracking number. that # is now on my item as delivered 11/4 (!). Problem is I didn't get the package. The seller is unresponsive and has a very bizarre, postive, feedback history. I missed that when I was vetting the purchase.
I called Fedex, gave the number, my name, address. They said it was delivered -- but I wasn't the recipient, nor was it sent to my address even though it was sent to my town. "For security reasons" they won't tell me where in my town it was delivered.
But they did give me the package dimensions 18 x17 x13.6" (not normally available in on-line tracking info). It shipped from upstate new york (the lot description says the item is in Oklahoma), 27 lbs and a much smaller and lighter box then I'm expecting (19x19x34, 40lbs)
I can't imagine the seller somehow hacked a fedexT# that happens to be to my town. My best guess at this point is that Ebay has buggy software and cross linked a different seller's input into my lot -- and the seller gets a pass.
They denied my refund request. That decision is currently under appeal because ebay states appeals must "Prove that your item was delivered to the wrong address". They'll have to actually work their little finger a little and call Fedex because I can't provide proof since Fedex won't release that information in any usable manner. Hmmm, maybe if I record the fedex phone call. That would be the fifth time I've called FDX.
I've been a seller and buyer on Ebay since 1998. I keep two ids to keep the details separate. I was going to sell this holiday season for the first time in 6 years or so. Now I'm seriously considering canceling both accounts. I won't support an unethical operation.

Something that also may work? I haven't tried but will look into it: Paypal. Ebay and Paypal are in bed together they should both suffer the crabs of lousy vetting of new sellers.

I'm relying on Ebay having some integrity. They'll have to do a little work and call Fedex because I can't provide proof since Fedex won't release that information in any usable manner.
