FedEx - Destroyer of Packages

I've heard FedEx is brutal in some areas. "Brutal" being one of buyers words in describing FedEx, in feedback I've received, and with a thanks for my packaging that the item arrived unscathed.

I've head from others that FedEx is rough on packages.

Looking for comments from experience.

I spent 20 years using nothing but Fedex unless the item was under 1 pound. Now I won't use Fedex even if they are the cheapest. But it is more about their corruption than anything else. From their corporate on down that company is corrupt to the core.

I'm not surprised to read about corruption. I had to call four times about a missed pick-up, long story. But - I'm pretty sure I was lied to when the person I spoke with said she contacted dispatch and assured my package would be picked up. Four times was the charm, lol

Also: I requested a call back from a manager at my local distribution center. I didn't get the call back that I was promised.

Furthermore: If you want to talk with a person about issues.... good luck with not getting **bleep**-off.

I got a FedEx delivery the other day in a snowstorm. A nice heavy wet snow. Apparently they're too cheap to use plastic bags anymore, so it was just left in the middle of my porch to get snowed on. Box was soaked through, thankfully it was tape in shrink wrap and not paper or the like.

I have not found any one shipper is any worse than the others.   Fedex is worse at back billing saying you under paid the shipping, far worse.

I've never had a problem with Fed Ex packages that I received.  UPS packages  sometimes they show up beat up, but the majority of the time UPS is good too.

I heard that Fed Ex Ground uses mainly contractors to deliver and Fed Ex Express uses Fed Ex employees for delivery.  Maybe someone else can explain better, but I heard this from online and I think TV too.

WOW, i hate when the company promises a "call back"  They almost never call back or fix the issue, just like the cable company.

FED EX does not honor their insurance over $1500 (around this amount) even if you pay for more. For that reason alone, i will never use them for valuable items.

Has anyone had experience with filing a claim for miss-handling a package?

I saw a driver miss-handle a package that had "up arrows" on all sides and "TOP" written on the top of box. The weight is 30lbs and he picked it up and slammed it on his shoulder on the side of box. The item was not packaged to be handled like that, and clearly marked. I'm worried about this one. I'll know soon if it arrived ok.

I had a package that was last scanned as "on truck for delivery". Never delivered. Called Fedex to get them to trace the package. They concluded that the package was lost in transit and I needed to file a claim for lost package. Fedex DENIED the claim. I filed a complaint with the States Attorney Generals office.

Some flunky paralegal from Fedex replied back that they are protected under the Tarmac Agreement. (even though they admit they lost the package).

All over a $500 claim. That was in 2022. To date they have lost somewhere around $100K in business from me although I quit keeping track. Hope that $500 was worth it.

Yep, bait and switch. They often display a lower rate then back bill later (even when all the weight and dimensions are identical to what you entered).

Sooner or later Fedex will get hit with class action for it.

For a follow up on my opening post: And see message #9

The item I was worried about did arrive undamaged, but the delivery confirmation photo showed the box on it's side with the up arrows pointing horizontally.

It's just a bummer that some of them obviously have a problem following directions and they even ignored the "Fragile" stickers on the box.
