Extra Shipping Charge

For the last two sales I made for sports cards, eBay is charging me for postage when it should have come out of the sale money the buyer paid. I have pwe set up for individual purchases. Why do they keep charging me the shipping? I am tired of being nickeled and dimed by eBay.  Thanks in advance

Extra Shipping Charge

Buyer pays you for shipping.

You purchase the shipping label.

Buyers don't buy shipping labels.

They pay your asking price to ship. That money gets combined in what eBay pays you.

Sellers are responsible for purchase of actual label.

Ebay isn't like some other marketplaces where a prepaid label is issued. Something that's an option on Mercari and FBM.

If you are using the special rates for items under $20 ebay takes it from a different source. That's just the way it is.

I was not clear-I get that the buyer pays my rate for shipping and I get that I have to pay for the label at the time I print the label.

I am being charged for a label a week after I print the label off. eBay is charging me for a label well after I have been paid for the actual sale. They have charged my bank account the cost of a label. Why are they not just taking it out of the proceeds of the sale which includes the money for the label. This action was not true when I first started selling on eBay.

When you're purchasing the label scroll to the bottom of the label purchase page to see where your payment for the labels are coming from. If you want to pay from your funds on eBay choose Pay with funds. Other wise payment for labels will be pulled from either Paypal or other payment source you have on file.

Your purchases of shipping are charged to your available funds, even if the order is still in your pending funds or in held funds if you are still subject to holds.

Are you being charged for a shipping adjustment by USPS.? A common reason might be that you are using Ebay Standard Envelope Shipping and USPS is charging extra postage because your envelope is the wrong size or non-machineable.

ESE has stringent limitations which can preclude the use of top loaders.

With normal USPS shipping you can pay for the label with funds from the sale.  With eBay standard envelope they take the money out later.  They are two different systems.  There are a number of benefits to eBay standard envelope like getting tracking for the same price as an untracked envelope with stamps on it and you get insured up to $20 on single items (up to $50 on combined orders).

There should not be a problem with shipping an item in a toploader as long as you are not using bubble wrap.  The main thing to look for is that the envelope does not exceed 1/4 inch in thickness.

You can keep track of when they have charged you here:

Seller Hub | Your financial summary | eBay

Occasionally there are tracking issues with eBay standard envelope, but the alternative is to pay for USPS Ground Advantage which may cost you $5 or more.
