Entering wrong tracking information

Hi,

I ordered something on ebay a few weeks ago, got the item quickly.  For some reason I looked at the tracking, and I saw it was delivered to Nebraska.  I live in Florida. I thought oh well, I got my item. Anyway, I ordered something else a few days ago and see the origin acceptance is the city I live in.  The seller shows they are in IL.  Is this a post office issue, or are the sellers doing this on purpose. Why?

Thank you!

Re: Entering wrong tracking information

The first one could be a USPS SNAFU, or the seller accidentally entered the wrong tracking number.

The second one could be a drop shipper.

Hard to tell with no details.

I think a third possibility could be a SmartPost shipment (I may have the name wrong here), where it travels by some other carrier as far as the recipient's local PO (or another in the same region, from what I've seen of inbound packages ordered by family members), at which point it's scanned in there and is taken the rest of the way by the USPS.

Re: Entering wrong tracking information

Started reading some FB on the seller that had tracking to Nebraska. Some of the buyers are claiming fake tracking and not getting their items. So, I'm thinking there is more to this story.
