I am creating a listing and the package will weigh slightly under 1 pound so it could go as a first- class package. When I try to put the weight as 15.999 ounces, it will only let me enter 15 ounces. Am I doing something wrong ?

Try one pound 0 ounces or try 0 lb. 16 ounces.

If I understand you correctly, just put in 15 ounces. First Class Package Service is four ounce increments. 13 oz costs the same as 15 oz. Unless you're thinking retail, in which case it couldn't go over 13 oz. anyway. There is also a "1 pound or less" option but I'm not sure what that ultimately shows for postage when the listing is live. I THINK if you use 16 oz it will kick it into Priority mail rates.  You may have to create the listing, then check it out right away and see what it shows for postage. (remember it will be using YOUR zip code) and then revise it if need be.

For eBay I put 16 oz in first class and it automatically changes it to 15.99.  In Pirateship I do that and it changes it to 1 lb and charges me priority, BUT will take 15.99 in the ounces area.

15 oz will work as mentioned above, as it will be included in the 13-15.99 oz (I *think* that's the cut-off I remember) - all the same price.

Hell is empty. And all the devils are here.

I used to wonder why Postal clerks could sometimes be sort of cranky. I think i know why now.. LOL. Who can memorize all that stuff??

USPS makes you round up, so even 15.0001 ounces should be 1 lb, however just use 1 lb 0 oz (or 0 lb 16 ounces) and when it is purchased, it will show as 15.9oz. You can always check the price difference by putting 1 lb, 1 ounce to compare services and price, before you purchase it. It works for me.

The weight limit of 15.999 ounces for First Class packages is a specific exception to this policy.

Except on Tuesdays, during Leap Years, correct? 🙂

When entering listing select "1 lb. or less" and leave the oz box empty for items near 16oz. Calculation will be for USPS 15.999oz. Enter actual weight for items at or below 15oz.  Cost changes for sellers at 1oz-4oz ,5-8oz, 9-12oz, and 13-16oz.
