After 3 hours on the phone today I learned that half your employees dont even know that you guys use a third party shipper. I even had one of them note that on my account to prove how uneducated the csrs are. And if Ebay is not being shady about trying to get you to pick thier 3rd Ins so they can gain more capital by contracting with them...then they should have the answers to my below questions.
1. Why would anyone in their right mind when printing a usps lable want to purchase coverage from a third party providor that has way more limitations as to what they cover than usps does?
2. Ebay has it as the first option when you print a shipping label which I found out today. That alone is shady. Anyone who clicks the add insurrence button is going to automatically assume its through usps.
3. Why would ebay allow this shady 3rd party insurence company's option to be chosen if the item or the entire category for that matter that some one is selling is not covered under their policy?
4. Why does it take 30 days after filing a claim through this shady third party insurence to tell you the item is not covered?
I am now screwed out of $465. And I promise you that has no answers to any of my questions.

I don't use Ebay labels or insurance, but there are a couple of third party insurers that I know of, ShipCover and U-Pic. Both have exclusions and limitations that the user should make themselves aware of before choosing. Ebay chooses to offer ShipCover and USPS insurance.
I am assuming that the dropdown menu is in alpabetical order, and it is up to the user to choose which insurance they want.

I do not understand how you just lost $365??? It seems to have something to do with insurance? Is your item something unusual--that cannot be shipped to certain locations?

Nice attitude for someone that has gotten help & a solution or two from seasoned sellers.
Maybe you should tell us exactly what you'd like to hear.

Before selling anymore Gift Cards you might want to read this:

It is up to you as a seller to know these things before listing.

No. It’s a giftcards and ineligible for the insurance he purchased. And actually no major carrier will fully insure giftcards against damage or loss so even if he had purchased USPS insurance, he would be in this situation unless he shipped via registered mail. Otherwise with USPS $15 is the maximum they reimburse for giftcards.

Well. Experienced ebay sellers (who are on ebay's payroll) since somehow you came to the conclusion this was in regards to a gift card perhaps you should know all the facts.
1. The package "supposively" arrived with the bottom cut out. The buyer sent pictures showing this. So one of two things happened. The buyer either tried to pull a fast one on me or someone internally through usps stole the contents.
2. Seller filed a INR claim with ebay. Ebay advised me that if I did not fully refund the buyer than they would because I would lose the case. So I was advised since i purchased ins. To file a claime with the carrier to get reimbursed and refund the sellers money to avoid a negstive impact to my seller ststus. Knowing what I know now I should of fought that because since the item showed delivered I would not of lost that case and it would have been on the buyer to file a claim through usps.
3. All of you that stated that USPS does not cover gift cards as far as insurance are absolutely correct if a gift card is lost in the mail or damaged USPS will not cover it. But this falls under missing contents let me follow me claim it cause an investigation. If the results of that investigation determined that there was internal tampering then absolutely I would be reimbursed buy USPS. And the culprit would be responsible for compensation to USPS for covering the bill.
4. To mr. Screenshot of purchasing insurance through shipping label application. The drop-down box could very well be in alphabetical order. But there's also another drop-down box where you can select USPS or FedEx to ship your items. Why is the option to use 3rd party insurence not available if you ship fed ex? Doesnt make sense. The simple fact is eBay monetarily benefits from offering third party insurance. Statistics show that the majority of shipment of eBay orders is done through USPS that is why they are offering us the seller the option through usps only. And I don't care what anybody says. Any seller is going to automatically assume that if they are purchasing a USPS label through eBay and they click the ad Insurance button that the insurance is going to be coming through do United States Postal Service and not a third party. If a disclaimer popped up while doing this stating that you are purchasing insurance through a third-party not USPS I absolutely guarantee you the amounts of business done through the third party insurance would be cut at least in half because people would opt out of it and go with USPS.
In general overall eBay goes above and beyond to protect a buyer which I absolutely agree they should. But way more needs to be done on the seller end of things for protection by eBay. EBay's funds are generated by the sellers not the buyers and we are doing all the groundwork for them to get there 9 to 12%. I did not post this for resolution or for opinions for that matter I posted it to make other sellers aware of what happens when they click the add insurance button when purchasing an eBay label. As sellers that's all we can do is bring awareness to eBay flaws and hope and pray that the message gets heard and something gets done about it or less people fall victim to the fact that seller protection is not what it needs to be in eBay.

And here is the issue. When you hit the insurance button and put in the amount, if you have somehow totally missed that you are not purchasing USPS insurance, you are unable to purchase the label until you have also checked an additional box for Shipcover. If you are still so inattentive as to realize that you are not purchasing USPS insurance, then that is on YOU, not eBay.
eBay isn't trying to trick anyone. It's up to the seller to pay attention to what he/she is doing. If that is too difficult or too much to ask, then why bother selling? eBay screws with sellers enough, surely you don't want them to auto-fill a shipping label, too.

I am not on Ebays payroll. If I was, my posts would show it with the Ebay logo with my user ID.
It was pretty easy to determine that it was the gift cards by looking at your sold listings. The only thing you sold for $465 was the gift cards.

ShipCover does not cover gift cards. I'm pretty suree the only service that will cover gift cards is registered mail USPS
