Just wondering if anyone could help. My buyer gave an incorrect address when purchasing an item.
This item was attempted delivery and refused by the homeowner (not the buyer), the item has since been lost by the delivery company. What is the best course of action? It would seem to me the liability is on the buyer who gave the wrong address originally.

Hey @chrisry_40 . You are correct this falls to the buyer. If they file a non-receipt claim you will be covered by seller protections. In the event the package eventually turns up on your door step I'll offer you my standard advice for RTS (returned to sender) packages so you can file it away in case it's needed.

You have a few options. You should decide which route you'll be taking and communicate with the buyer, but wait until the item is returned (and delivered) to you before you take any of the following actions.

Best case scenario you'll get the package back, but don't hold your breath usually these packages are lost and no one takes responsibility for it specially USPS

If there was a wrong address given by the BUYER, you don't owe a penny according to eBay.
As long as the company attempted delivery.
The return of the item is unimportant.
If it were returned, then the seller could consider refunding the purchase price less shipping costs and any random fees the seller paid out.
No return, no refund.

Did u ship USPS?

If you shipped it via USPS, you should file a missing mail report. There is no guarantee they will find the package if you do it, but you have nothing to lose. I have done this in the past, sometimes it worked and they found it, sometimes they didn't find it, but worth a shot.

If you shipped the item with the address as stated on the payment it is the buyer's fault.
If you changed the address where buyer gave you another address to ship it to...you would be responsible for a refund.
Seller is in the UK...so maybe used Royal Mail?
