Ebay Rep Lies to me, and the the next one covers it up. This is a joke.

Apparently, calculating shipping is too complicated for these ebay devs. We have had an issue with eBay either charging shipping for one item, combining weight and keeping the box the same size or on the rare occasion, properly calculating shipping. It's all over the place. It's on the same items, same listings too so not as if something changed.

We just recently started selling on Ebay in addition to our already well-established ecomm store, and have literally lost over $1,000 in shipping due to eBay not being a competent platform.

I called a rep about the issue, and they said "its fixed now, for any non shipped orders cancel them and ask buyer to re-purchase, we will also give a $200 credit to your account, and if you get negative feedback for canceling it will be removed, we noted this on the account".

Suprise, none was true. Canceled orders, asked buyers to re-purchase, shipping still broken. Called, advised rep of conversation, rep said no such notes are on the account and they are going to email the rep that made those statements, surprise that rep lied again because 3rd call has no record of that and I have yet to hear anything.

This is a disgusting company, just do your own ecomm.

I just really hope someone in management listens to the recordings and corrects this. It is a disgusting way to do business.

as far as calculated shipping goes you have to make sure you input the correct things

lots of people have problems with calculated shippiug and a lot do not because they set it up correctly

calculated shipping is not something I woud call ebay about ever

if you cant fix it your self I do not think you would be able to describe the problems to someone who cares about it enough to help you

You, the seller, set up calculated shipping.  Proper weight, box measurements, and knowledge of types of shipping are your responsibility, not eBay's.

eBay does not want you to use calculated shipping. They want you to scam customers with so called "free shipping". That way, you are forced to bake the maximum possible cost of shipping into the price of the item and eBay makes more money. Every buyer, except those living in zone 9, get ripped off as zone 9 pricing is baked into the price of  the item (zone 8 if you excluded shipping to zone 9).

eBay does not have the technical ability to maintain a matrix of all the combinations of items in your inventory. If you have 1,000 unique items and can combine up to two per shipment then that is 1,000,000 combinations of two. With three items per shipping box we have 1,000,000,000 unique combinations.

We have not yet factored in each item's own packaging requirements, sizes, weights, postal rules, combined weight and size limits, the various shipping services. eBay does not offer Priority Cubic (as offered by PirateShip), which almost always cheaper than Flat Rate,  Regional and Regular Priority.

eBay is also engaged in scamming sellers with its shipping label form. It tells sellers to roundup dimensions to the nearest inch and prevents you from entering fractional dimensions. That is not how USPS rules work. Dimensions are rounded to the nearest inch, a big difference. -12.4" is rounded to 12" and 12.5"+ is rounded to 13".

eBay wants you to round up so they can rip you off on shipping labels. Using eBay's advice a 12.25" x 12.25" x 12.25" package @ 5 pounds would become a 13" x 13" x 13" package charged for a 14 pound dimensional weigh; when in fact, a dimensional weight does not apply as all the dimensions are rounded to 12".

This is where you need an app like GarageSale where you can create various shipping templates for various shipping services and types of items and duplicate these simply by pressing the Command and "D" keys on your keyboard. Here we have a template for a 4 pound book via media mail with a default html table with CSS styling.

Yes, you are certainly right about eBay Customer Service being compulsive liars.

Ebay does not make more money when a seller has free shipping. The seller makes more money when they have free shipping because they save money when someone close by purchases.

This is why you need to figure all postage is going to zone 8 if you offer free shipping

It's still a good place to buy... is it not?

I find that sellers here know more about the shipping calculator than cs because they actually use it. If combined shipping is set up by the seller eBay will combine weights but as far as I know there is no way for them to account for a different box size as they only have info for the original box size.   I believe that some sellers have figured out a way to accommodate for that but I’m not sure how.

I put 2 of your items in my cart with a FL zip and the cart just added the weights together.  If you want it to add the weights for different listings you need to set up a combined shipping rule in site/shipping preferences and then check it off in the listing form that you want that rule to apply.
