Called customer service regarding no option to buy extra insurance for UPS shipment.
After some research, was told that I don't need to do anything. If shipment was lost/damaged, I was to contact UPS directly and they would begin claim process, even though I did not buy insurance.
Per ebay they state below
Additionally, UPS and FedEx automatically cover packages that are damaged or lost up to a value of $100. If your item has a higher value than that, you should consider purchasing additional coverage. You'll find more information on additional coverage with UPS and FedEx below.
However, kind of inline with customer service, they further state
Additional cover with UPS and FedEx Filing a UPS claim
If you purchased your UPS label through eBay, the maximum liability coverage for shipments is up to $999 in value. Items that are worth $999 or less can be claimed if something goes wrong with your delivery. Here's how:
If your parcel is lost or missing:
Once you submit your claim, an investigation will be conducted by UPS to try to locate the package. If the investigation is unsuccessful, you'll receive notification with next steps to file for payment.
That last part has NO mention buying extra insurance, it does make it seem like it is covered automatically (though I am not sure).
My questions are
Do I need to buy extra UPS insurance or is now built into the price
Or
Is the whole insurance option just missing and I will be screwed if something happens
Likewise
If the insurance coverage is now built into the shipping price, who is ultimately paying for it? Me or ebay?
On some items for a couple hundred bucks, I am just happy with getting the sig confirm. Am I now being forced to pay for insurance I don't want?
If I try printing the label on paypal, it gives me UPS option for extra insurance.
Just looking for guidance / right answer

Where did that come from? Was there additional information on purchasing coverage below? I'd buy it on PayPal, just to be safe.

This was mentioned on the weekly chat. Ebay has not added the option to buy extra insurance yet for UPS. Can we say "cart before the horse"?
So you will ONLY be able to file a claim for up to $100. Keep in mind that UPS adds surcharges just like Fed Ex so don't be surprised if the amount you owe when your monthly invoice comes is higher than quoted. This is why I only use USPS.
Do NOT believe what CS told you. They are wrong.
"Additionally, UPS and FedEx automatically cover packages that are damaged or lost up to a value of $100. If your item has a higher value than that, you should consider purchasing additional coverage. "

Thanks for the above!!
When I asked CS if the info they told me was online so I could reference just in case, was told "No"
I ended up using paypal, but their price was $10 more on same shipping before insurance.
