Ebay International Shipping Problem - Glendale Heights Chicago

Hello, 

I need some help.   I ordered a very rare item off of Ebay on April 2nd.   I was very excited to have found it for sale in North Carolina.  Buyer shipped it using the Ebay International Shipping service to my location in Quebec, Canada.   Item was tracking well until it arrived at Glendale Heights.   Last note from USPS states "Delivered to Agent, Left with Individual" on April 9th at 9:05 AM.   Since then there has been nothing.   I contacted the seller and they have no idea what's going on.   I then contacted ebay after the due date of April 22nd for receiving the item had passed.   Without any notice or email confirmation, my order was refunded.   I would prefer the item, rather than the refund given how hard it is to find the item.   I've tried to reach USPS and Ebay for some explanation as to what's happened to the package - I am getting no where as everything is automated.   The seller is in the dark too and has texted me requesting that if I do get the package to please pay him for the item.  Didn't realize that they would be out of pocket.   Does anyone have any advice or experience on this issue?   Can I get confirmation from someone that the package is still in transit or has been lost or stolen?     Much appreciated.  Thanks.

Without even knowing what the item was, it probably couldn't be shipped to you for whatever reason. eBay issued the refund, they won't tell you anything about the item. The seller didn't lose any money on the purchase if they shipped with eBay's International Shipping program, eBay handles everything that tracks as delivered to the hub, the seller keeps the money from the sale, so your seller is NOT out of pocket, eBay refunded you from eBay funds. 
Since eBay refunded you won't be receiving the item, if it is in eBay's possession it belongs to them.

What is the item number? We can get more info about what service was used (eIS or eISD) and see if it's prohibited to ship to Canada if we can see the actual item.

When you click on the tracking number that leads to USPS, what does it say? Can you post a screenshot?

Hide Tracking History

Let me know - I don't think an old RAM Card is a prohibited item - I've received others via the international shipping in the past without any problems - these cards do not contain batteries.

It in most likelihood was shipped to EIS. When the delivery is not made on time, Ebay promptly refunds. If it is found at some time and makes it back to Ebay, they will probably sell it.

The seller is totally out of the loop once it reaches EIS and only received a notice of the refund being issued. He will never be contacted about this shipment again. Nor will you.

I doubt this is an illegal import. It is probably a screw up.

When Ebay sells items returned to EIS they often sell them on Ebay.com. Keep looking you might see it again.

The seller shipped using USPS First Class Package International, so they are responsible for the package and any refund.

If they had used EIS and it was delivered to the hub, Ebay would handle any refunds.

What happened to the package, who knows?

A quick search shows several others currently listed, perhaps you will find another that fits your needs.

Looking up the item number the seller did ship through eIS. I'm not exactly sure where you saw First class international at.

That's what it showed when I looked at it shipping to Canada.

That's weird Looking at the shipping locations it looks the same as with eIS.

This was shipped with eBay International Standard Delivery, not eBay International Shipping.

If the hub lost the package, the seller can file an insurance claim - they have coverage up to $100.

thanks for all the replies to-date.   The story continues.  I ordered a very similar item from the same seller a week after I ordered the first item.  That second item arrived in Canada and delivered without any problems.  The second item followed exactly the same shipping trajectory as the first item that was not delivered.   

When the second item was Delivered to Agent at Glendale Heights, the agent was DHL.   So, is it possible that the first item that I was refunded is somewhere within DHL’s network?  Again, the seller has received no information on the status of the refunded item. 

just wondering if I should query DHL and what would I use as a number for them to track etc.

Latest update.  I searched ParcelsAPP using the eBay tracking number provided for the refunded item.   ParcelsAPP indicates the item is being processed at a consolidation centre as of April 28th.  The last update was April 6th using the eBay tracking number and April 9th using the USPS number.  I am hopeful that this is the same package and despite being refunded the item is on its way.  

Any thoughts?

It's possible it will eventually be delivered.

It's happened to me several times. I hope you will contact your seller and either return the original or repay them for it.

It will need to be repaid outside of eBay via Paypal or another method. This is allowed in cases like this.

Not received as of yet.  If it does arrive, I will reach out to the seller.  An earlier reply indicated that eBay ensures that the seller is compensated for the item when it goes missing during shipment and refunds the buyer.   I was refunded as the buyer, I hope that eBay doesn’t leave sellers holding the bag when the eBay international shipping program fails to deliver.
