ESUS tracking/eBay Delivery Services

I know it's been discussed, but I'm tired of trying to send feedback directly to eBay about this.
I'm about to have to completely stop using sellers that ship with eBay delivery services. I do a lot of trading card purchasing so in theory the discounted shipping is great, especially on cards that aren't priced very high. But the service level of actually receiving these has taken a nosedive.
At first, it was every now and then, but I have failed to receive 3 of these shipments since Christmas and I have 4 more that look increasingly like they will never arrive either. Some of these are rare cards including 1 package that contained a serial numbered 1 of 1 which means it is completely irreplaceable.
I've started to become very pessimistic every time I see ESUS in the tracking.
I don't know what the problem is, but something about this process is very flawed.
Are the sellers not following the guidelines to correctly use the service?

Has eBay not clearly indicated to sellers any restrictions the USPS has regarding this service?
Did eBay actually meet with the USPS to make sure both parties were aware of all the necessary steps and actions needed to make this work?
Or is it just that the USPS continues to become more unreliable with increasingly poor service?

I don't know what the problem is, but this shipping option is becoming increasingly unreliable and it's creating unhappy buyers that are losing trust in the platform and it's making sellers look bad and costing them time and money.

Re: ESUS tracking/eBay Delivery Services

I've had problems with the Ebay shipping (the ESUS tracking numbers).  It seems like several of the cards I ship never get delivered.  The system is unreliable.  Ebay advertises that we should ship our cards like a pro:  Well, the ebay delivery services system is hardly being handled professionally!  It's a huge mess!  I have decided to forget using the ebay shipping even though it's far cheaper.  You get what you pay for I guess.

Re: ESUS tracking/eBay Delivery Services

Hi jlamberth,

I got proof yesterday that ESUS tracking has at least one scam going on. Yesterday my USPS Postal Carrier handed me a ESUS envelope. I asked if he gave it a "Delivered" scan? He said he has no way of scanning it - but that the machines sometimes pick up a tracking point or two on it's way. He's been a Postal Carrier for more than 20 years. Mine was "Out For Delivery" - but in a different county about 50 miles from my home. Here's the proof. Even if my Mail Carrier was wrong - he didn't scan it - so there was no "Delivered" scan. Yet! Right about 5:00pm local time, 5 or so hours after my Mail Carrier was here, poof "Delivered".

This leaves me with only one possibility - ESUS will mark any ESUS envelope as "Delivered" at the end of the day when it's "Out for Delivery". How else do you explain the "Delivered" ?scan? That was never scanned?

This should scare buyers away - if it's Out for Delivery - it's going to show a delivered scan whether you got the envelope or not. And as a buyer - you'd lose the case with EBAY - because of the "Delivered" scan - even if the item never shows up.

I just wish there was a Plan B for cheaper items - but for now I'm only using USPS Tracking.

Re: ESUS tracking/eBay Delivery Services

Since there have been many standard enevelopes that do not have a delivery scan I'm positive they are not automatically marked as delivered.  The ESUS standard envelopes are scanned at the depots, not when given to the postal clerk or when delivered.  It was likely scanned as delivered when it reached the last  usps depot but then took time to update on eBay.

Re: ESUS tracking/eBay Delivery Services

I have been using this service for 2 packages last month that arrived in Canada with no issue.  NOW, I have 2 lost in 1 week!    The packages were mailed at a USPS postal center so I have filled a missing mail Search, as they have not tracked to the Canadian Border yet.   Maybe there is something going on with a back log for whomever USPS is turning these over to.    I will not use this service again!    This will be a $400 loss for me if not found!
