Does the return by date change?

Hi, I sold an pair or motorbike forks on the 10th of Feb and the buyer was telling me that they do not fit, messages and pictures were sent back and forth and I came to the conclusion that their motorbike has been modified from standard hence why my item for that bike does not fit, I offered to send them another part for free so that the part I sold them wouldnt need to be sent back but I think the buyer did not understand this so they requested a return, no bother, I tried so I accepted the return request on the 17th Feb

My question is that I have been checking on the case every few days and a few days ago it said return item back by 6th march but today it is saying return by 9th of March, does the date just keep going up or does it only go up to a certain amount of time since the request was started? the buyer has not sent the item back yet as item dispatched symbol is still greyed out.

The buyer has 5 days to ship the item.  At that point you can call CS and have them close the return in your (the seller's) favor.  Otherwise it will stay open until 30 days have passed and then the return request will close automatically (though many have reported it frequently still takes a phone call).

eBay gives them 5 business days to ship the item back. You can call at the end of day 5 and get the return closed in your favor.
