Sorry to hear that.
Sometimes a balky fuser has trouble starting up, and a cold start might allow it to overcome a minor problem (sort of like a flickering fluorescent bulb). If it keeps happening, though, that is generally a sign that the fuser or power supply is on its way out. You might be able to get it to limp along by unplugging it for a while and restarting, but generally once that starts happening it starts to get worse and worse -- needing longer periods of rest before restarting, and going for shorter and shorter periods before needing a restart.

I need to print 2 labels today, and got that fuser error again! Shut down the printer (I suspected maybe I should have done that after I was able to print) and started up again. No help. It's shut down now and I'll try again just before going to the post office later.
Maybe we'll end up at Costco after all. 😞
Done enough work on laser printers in my previous job that I can say that you should just go to Costco at this point. 🙄

Well, you are absolutely correct! I haven't had a sale all week until Friday, Feb 28, so we put off buying the printer. Got an HP OfficeJet Pro 9018 for $199.00. It comes with a $40 credit for ink that they send to you automatically. If that ink turns out to be less expensive than Costco or Staples, we may just continue once the offer ends.
My hubby is a 40 year computer programmer, and he says this installation was the worst yet. Took forever to download the drivers as it looked like it stalled (so I went to take a nap!). Then he went round and round with their security/capcha (selecting cars, palm trees, bridges, traffic lights, crosswalks, etc.)
I finally told him to select "forgot" username, and then "forgot password" when he was finally able to log in, and HP said username or password is invalid.
BUT the good news is that the printing finally worked. The old laserjet printed on the top side, and this printer prints on the boom side (so I have to remember that for my adhesive shipping labels and 2-sided printing).
One problem. He tried to print a photo, and the printer wants to send a FAX. We did not set up to FAX and we don't want to. The screen kept popping up, so I don't know what he finally did to stop it.
Anyway, I am a happy camper. This printer is smaller/lighter than the previous one, so we plan to wheel it out to the curb, and hopefully someone will pick it up for scrap.
