Do not know what to do: Shipping Address Issue

I sold an item on 4/25/20 (Saturday). Shipped 4/27/20 (Monday). I received a message from her on 5/1/20 saying I sent item to wrong address. I informed her I sent it to the address listed on eBay (P.O.Box). She said the P.O. Box is no longer valid. She says if the post office returns it to me, she wants me to send to her new address (she gave me the address and she says her address is now updated with eBay).  The problem is that I offered free shipping on item and I feel like I honored it by shipping to the address on file with eBay (P.O.Box). I do not want to pay again to reship it. I do NOT want a negative feedback either.

You have done what you were required to do.  You shipped the item to the address that the buyer had on file.  What happened was simple buyer negligence.

If the package is returned to you and the buyer still wants the item, the buyer WILL BE responsible for the shipping charges to have to send it out again.  If she gives you any hint of having an issue with that, put her on your blocked buyer's list so that she will no longer be able to purchase anything further from you (at that point I would think that she is unreasonable and is nothing but trouble).

Do not worry about negative FB.  If she gives you bad FB regarding her shipping snafu, you can have that removed.

Another thing that you have not thought about is...If the item gets received at the address that you sent it to AND does not get returned (new PO box holder keeps item).  The  package will show delivered and your seller will be out of luck.  You have done what you were required to do on eBay's part and the buyer now knows to keep their address current BEFORE purchasing items.

Good luck.

Do not know what to do: Shipping Address Issue

Thats on the  buyer to make sure the correct address is on their account

this doesnt sound right.

She can neg all she wants but you will win this one and can have it removed

Sounds to me like this person  purposely uses that address so she can pull this stunt and has pulled it before and got away with it. Dont dare ship to any address not on their ebay account no matter how  nice they seem. Doing so only brings trouble. The only time an address change can be made is within an hour of ended listing.

Yeah, no, this wreeks of trouble

If this buyer tries anything sideways, report them.

Do not know what to do: Shipping Address Issue

I've had this happen 4 times the past month. The first two were sent with a stamp, so I just reshipped them- no charge.

The other two were sent first class package, so I informed both buyers that they would have to pay for shipping (the first time was free shipping on me, so I definitely wasn't paying it again.) The first buyer was super apologetic and asked for a PayPal invoice right away to pay. The second buyer asked if he would get a full refund if he decided he didn't actually want the item anyways... I don't do returns on my cards, due to how they're used in the game, so I said that I would refund, but minus the $3 I had already paid to ship his card to the wrong address. He has since asked me to invoice him once the card is back in my possession. Smart decision sir. LOL

I don't think anyone is trying to scam you- this happens (and I've never had it happen this much, so I think a lot of eBayers are cleaning the dust off of old accounts) and it will likely work out just fine.

Tell your buyer that she needs to make arrangements with the new person who has that box or with the post office where the box is located because there is nothing you can do about it.

No, once the buyer has paid the address can't be changed. The buyer is given an option to correct the shipping address during checkout and if they don't correct the address and pay the only thing that can be done is to cancel the transaction and then purchase a pay again.

Thank you. Whatever address is listed on the shipping label I get from eBay is the ONLY one I will ship to.

Do not know what to do: Shipping Address Issue

Occasionally a buyer will ask me to send to another address (after payment and sometimes after mailing).

I have responded with "I would love to help you out but it is against E-bay policies for me to change the address".

Recently, an item was returned to me because the buyer had moved. I promptly refunded her money. End of that transaction.

She is free to update her address and buy a 2nd time.

Thank you for all the advice. I had NEVER encountered an issue like this, The buyer has messaged me that she got the package from the post office.
