Hello all, of course like most of you since the start of USPS rip you off DIM shipping started in june I have been using fedex much more frequently. Ebay always recommends my to pay an extra 5.00 for signature on delivery. Why do I need this?? I recently shipped an item that was 119.00 dollars plus shipping using Fedex. I researched the buyer and found him to be a frequent buyer and also I googled him and decided that he was someone that I could trust. I shipped the item Fedex and did NOT request signature confirmation at delivery thus saving me 5.00. The item was delivered and I received a positive feedback from the buyer ( wow That doesn't happen like it used to). When I looked at the tracking it showed the item was delivered just like it does with USPS. So the question is if delivery confirmation with USPS is good enough for ebay to say the item was delivered then why is it not good enough if I use Fedex. Or is it ? In the past I have had a couple of customers who's items were stolen from their porch, mailbox after delivery. USPS showed delivery confirmation so I was not liable for the problem. If fedex shows delivered then am I responsible if the item goes missing after delivery. Both show delivered. I am confused about this and wonder what the correct answer is . Any help would be appreciated !

Why do you believe ebay recommends fedex signature delivery confirmation on a $119 sale ?

Because when you go to ship it says ebay has added this option for your protection in case the buyer claims they did not receive the item. Or at least it used to when using the classic shipping page which I preferred. It is not present on the new shipping page. Why do you answer a question with a question ?

Because both eBay and PayPal only require signature confirmation on payment's of $750 or more?

Ebay requires sellers for their protection to ship with online tracking.

I think you were being invited to spot the three errors in that response, actually. I'm not sure why, though.

I am finding these forums rarely stick with the subject they start with. I would just call ebay but the children of the Philippines know far less about how ebay works than we do. I think the answer is a fedex delivery confirmation works the same as a USPS one does.

To answer your question, no, you don't need signature for items under $750.

On eBay and PayPal proof of delivery is tracking showing delivered. Tracking showing signature delivery is required if the item is over $750.
If a buyer pays with their credit card they can still file a chargeback with the card co and many cards only accept a signature as proof it was delivered. I think eBay is just trying to recommend you fully protect yourself from all buyer claims.

Did I identify all the errors?

Thank you ! I thought it was a pretty simple straight forward question.

- Sentence fragment
- Apostrophe not needed ... it should be "payments" and not "payment's"
- The "signature confirmation on" should be "signature confirmation for"
- The question mark seems incorrect
Did I identify all the errors?
I would add that Signature Confirmation™ should get initial capitals as it's a product name (and a trademark) and thus a proper noun.
