Customer returned using incorrect return excuses

As a BMW dealer, we sell only brand new Genuine BMW factory parts.  Anyone who is familiar with BMW as a franchise knows that defective parts out of the box from BMW is an extremely rare occurance.  You're more likely to find a part in a box with minor damage than actually defective.  Unfortunately, eBay allows customers to return items at will simply by stating "item was defective".  Too many times we've had customers try and return an item with the defective excuse when there was absolutely nothing wrong with the item.  ebay has no protection or consideration for the seller.  Just recently we had a customer purchase a golf umbrella who opened a case stating that it was "defective".  Naturally we gave the customer the benefit of the doubt and accepted the return and paid for the return shipping.  When it came back it not only appeared to not have been opened at all, but worked perfectly every time we tested it.  Unfortunately eBay gave the seller his entire purchase back along with having to pay for the return shipping.  dBay offers no protection for the seller from cases like this and now we have a mark against us showing that we sell defective merchandise.  eBay seriously needs to develop a department to investigate returns and stop punishing sellers for false claims.

That is correct.  eBay can't know the condition of the item, so they give the benefit of the doubt to the consumer.  Some lousy buyers take advantage of that.

Did you accept the return and voluntarily refund?
