I have a customer who purchased an item a day ago. They would like to cancel now which I am Ok with but how do I cancel without getting a defect on my metrics? I had an Ebay agent tell me once to use the problem with address code for cancelling an order. Has anyone used this reason and not gotten a defect?
Thanks for any help/advice

Go to 'my ebay'
got to 'orders to be shipped'
scroll and find that order
click 'cancel' on left side drop down
give reason as asked (which would be 'buyer requested')
then refund.
There is NO ding for cancelling for 'buyer requested' (or 'something wrong with address')

Cancel the order and use buyer requested as the reason.

So a refund comes out of "available funds" immediately...if you have any money almost available...that's where the refund comes from..not from the cancel item first. I usually wait until I have "available funds" at 0 before I do a refund. And I also have "express payouts" so I only have to wait a day or 2.
Not every seller knows refunds are taken immediately from "available funds".

When you cancel a transaction, one of the options is "Buyer requested," which is the obvious choice in this situation. Both "Buyer requested" and "Problem with address" are reasons that will not earn you a defect point, but of course you should use the one that's a better fit for this situation.
