Customer from Australia wants to buy an item from me but can't.

A very patient customer has been trying to buy something from me but it wont let her. She gets the following error message:

au.jpg

I have GSP for all my items. I have no locations blocked. I double and triple checked this particular listing, it is set to accept GSP and there are no locations blocked.

I've apologized to the seller several times and told her to contact ebay.  She says she has and ebay can't figure it out either.

Has anyone heard of this before?

Try to checkout from the eBay.com.AU site, e.g.:

We have no bahamas today.

Make sure the item in question is allowed to be imported to Australia.

My nephew lived there for 10 years and we hit a few items that were confiscated by customs.

Here is a link to the list, and remember customs often takes a broad brush to these items. If there is any question at all it's best not to attempt to ship.

Hi @inhawaii, the error message being displayed is letting you know that this item cannot be shipped to Western Australia. There are many items that are restricted from import in various countries around the world and when we can identify this, we will block the sale from completing. The additional resources provided by @1ja440 can help research this further or be shared with your customer, but this wouldn't be something Customer Service could override.

Out of curiosity (as an ex pat Aussie) what's the item?

GSP does not ship to all countries world wide. That appears to be a location that GSP does not ship to. I recently had someone from Australia that wanted to purchase something. GSP has outrageously high. Just regular mail for a less than 1 pound item was $17. That might be why GSP doesn't ship to that location.

Is the item perhaps something that Australia does not allow to be imported? It ay not be the item but a key word in your listings tittle causing the item to be flagged. A lot of your candy listings tittles include the word fresh and combined with the description of the flavor it could be that their system thinks you are trying to ship fresh fruit which probably is a big no no.

It's a t-shirt ... so i don't think it's a prohibited item.  😃

Just out of curiosity i should have the buyer try to buy SOMETHING ELSE and see if it takes.

So you're from the land down under? Every time i think of Australia, i think of Muriel's Wedding.  😃

You might be onto something there. Australia has VERY strict quarantine laws.

That's weird.

Oh and JFTR, for the other poster, GSP does ship to Australia.

Maybe you should ship it direct? It can go first class international a lot cheaper for the buyer than GSP and it's an eldelcon country.

While not from there from documentaries I know Australia and New Zeeland have very strict customs for food items. Since I know the poster sells a lot of food and drink items I was just thinking it may have something to do with the system mistaking descriptive words describing flavor and fresh ness as stating food items. I know GSP handles customs forms and was thinking they may be erring on the side of caution.

Instead of having the buyer try to purchase a item they do not want then canceling the purchase. There could be a better option that is build into the listings. I my self ship items to Australia but do not use the GSP. You could first try unchecking the GSP option and then select Australia as a country you will ship to.

I've never done a non-GSP transaction before.  Will it still let me print out a label and give the package to the mail carrier WITHOUT having to go to the post office?

All of the countries in the list you can purchase a label online. You will need to fill out the customs form. You can either scroll down bellow the normal purchase label screen and fill it out. If you do not fill it out when you click to purchase it will prompt you to do so. The shipping label will be a little different from domestic labels. You will need to sign and date it on the left side. When you take it to the post office you will also need to get a date stamp on the label.
