I recently realised I bought a counterfeit product on ebay, but the seller is adamant that is not, but several customer services affiliated with the brand have all said it is counterfeit, now I'm supposed to surrender the items to them but I've explained I need it to dispute the transaction, it's a high value item so the seller stands to gain from reselling to another, more unsuspecting buyer, I contacted eBay but they said it has to be returned, I'd rather have it seized by the actual company than have the person reacquire it. But at the same time I need my money back, what should I do here, I've since seen that the seller tends to do this sparingly, managing to retain a high seller score but once in a while scamming customers then pointing their seller score as a way to diminish any negative feedback, I fell for the high seller score too so I can only imagine that it will happen again until ebay properly intervenes, which they refuse to do

Return the item to the seller and get the refund.

Click the return this item button and choose not as described. You do want your money back?
As for surrender, Winston Churchill said it best.

Normally I'd recommend opening a Return citing 'Doesn't seem authentic' (or whatever the verbiage), but I need to think on this one. Ultimately, you need to be made whole, period.
You say, "... but several customer services affiliated with the brand have all said it is counterfeit, now I'm supposed to surrender the items to them... ", and I'm wondering what kind of heat you're fading on this. Who are these 'affiliated' people and what do they recommend that you do?
Is it worth skipping the MBG and going straight to your CC with this type of claim? And if you did, would you be allowed to retain/surrender the high-valued item? I do agree that I'd rather return it to the company than to put it back on the market... but also think that counterfeits should be permanently and prominently marked as such upon any disposal or surrender.
Like I said, I need to think on this one... 🤔

You purchased from someone with 67 negative feedbacks in month.
Sometimes you get lucky and sometimes you do not.
Return the item for a refund.

Goodness, gracious! I haven't been able to find it yet. Would you share the listing number, @tidose.33? I'm still thinking. 🤔

Last feedback this buyer received and then click into that seller's store.
I won't even tell me how many in a year that seller had. LOL.

Return for refund if you want to get your money back.

Thanks! So glad you cleared my head. 😉
Wonder what in the world that seller sold to @tidose.33 that they thought was a "high value" (yet counterfeited) item? I'll be danged if I'd let a bunch of parts house employees live up in my head, like the OP is. File the eBay MBG Return, @tidose.33. I'm done thinking on this one. 🙌

You can see my purchase history? If so, how, I didn't think that was the case, I wouldn't have been so vague about the involved parties lol

So the company in question said it is company policy to seize counterfeit items, by affiliated I meant employees of the company (physical stores and head office authentication service). I also agree with it being marked to prevent its resale but I'm just exploring my options, I've opened a dispute anyway, i am waiting to see the results of it

Wow...
The last feedback stated this:
seller agreed to refund me the difference if I first deleted my return request. This I agreed to do.
I will let you take a guess as to what happened next.
This seller is definitely shady!!!
Once again I will say, there exist sellers on ebay who know policy and yet will turn around and coax unsuspecting and inexperienced buyers into a corner where they take full advantage of them.
I have seen this since my first days on ebay close to two decades ago.
Why are these sellers allowed to continue selling here?

No one can see your purchase history but they can look at recent feedback that you received and see which sellers you purchased from. The poster is assuming that you are referring to the seller who left your last feedback.
