Conflicting info on open return

So a buyer opens a return request today, Sept  14th.  I accept it immediately.    The return details says they need to send the item back by Sept 21, but on my open returns, there's a column that says "refund due date sept 18-17".   That's 4 days from now! I highly doubt I will even have the items back by then and pray that the eBay bots won't give the buyer an auto-refund on the 19th.   I called customer service and the agent told me not to refund until I have my items back.

So  @Anonymous (or whomever handles this stuff), you may want to forward this to the tech team.

"Refund due date" is ebay's way of saying that its the date ebay can be asked to step in. It REALLY shouldn't say "refund due date". It confuses too many sellers and it implies that the seller needs to refund on that date. Whoever came up with that ought to be fired. Its flat out wrong. Sometimes I think ebay uses that language to trick the seller into refunding whether the item has been shipped back or not.

Yeah, it should say "REPLY or RESPONSE due by...."  I'm glad I'm not the only one who find the wording very misleading and incorrect.

Just to be safe, I also took screenshots showing that I accept the returns on the same day they were opened.   Call me paranoid, but can you blame me?

I'm not sure what the thought process was on this one, but I will submit for a change to the wording on this page and see what we can do make it clearer. Thanks so much for the screenshot!

Unfortunately, that's not the date eBay can be asked to step in either.

The request was opened on Sep 14, and Friday, Monday, and Tuesday are the three business days. So eBay can't be asked to step in until Sep 20.
