Combining shipping 4 different items

One buyer bought 4 items, one had $10 shipping paid by buyer so the sale went thru automatically. The other 3 items are waiting for an invoice, but buyer wants, and I am ok with, packing all 4 items together with just one shipping label and cost. Can I let the $10 shipping item stay as it is and just deduct that $10 from the box weight/size shipping label cost and then deduct the difference from the total on an invoice for the 3 so they will only pay the amount for the box total/label wise including the $10 already paid? And then there’s only one tracking # so can I manually add that to the $10 shipping item since all 4 items are shipping in one box with one label?

If you are going thru eBay to print the labels they will give you the option to combine the shipping and provide you with one label and tracking # for all 4 listings. I'm not quite sure what you're asking at the beginning of your message, but you always have the option to partially refund buyers. If you're not sure what the final shipping cost will be you can charge a set price in the invoice and then tell them you'll refund whatever they overpaid.

Your post is VERY confusing. I hope you are communicating to your buyer more clearly.

If you want to combine shipping, you first need to figure out what is it going to cost you to ship all of that, including your cost of materials. Once you have that figured out, take $10 off because you've already been paid that. Then, whatever is left, I'd split up between the other three items. So, if you determine it will cost you $20 to ship everything, you need the buyer to still pay another $10 in shipping between the other 3 items. You could put all of that on one invoice, leaving two other invoices with "$0" shipping. Or, split it up, which is what I'd do. In my example, on the invoice shipping lines I'd put $3.33, $3.33, and one at $3.34.

When you buy your shipping label, only buy one label for one of the items since you are putting everything in one box. Then, upload that tracking number to the other three orders so they are marked as shipped. Sometimes when you buy the label there is an option to combine when you buy the label.

@finn20_62 ,

Considering what you are selling seems to be mostly hand blown glass items, combined shipping may not be a wise or cost effective thing to do.  You might be able to ship those 4 items in 2 packages safely, but the buyer will have to pay the full shipping for the items, then you can refund the difference once you have determined the cost.  the link below tel you how to issue a partial refund

https://www.ebay.com/help/selling/managing-returns-refunds/refunding-buyers?id=5182

The reason you cannot send a combined shipping invoice is because in your buyer requirements you have been opted into ebay's Auto pay system, something you may not have been aware of.

The info above is at the bottom of the Buyer Management page, below the buyer requirements you can set.

Most sellers will block buyers with 2 unpaid or cancellations in the last 12 months

You do not have to make a change to addresses you do not ship to

You may want to consider changing the number of items a buyer can buy in the last 10 days upward.

It is up to you who to apply the requirements to by how many feedback they have.

Other things to consider as a new seller are:

The payment hold on new seller's first few payments; The amount paid for shipping is available, to use immediately.

https://www.ebay.com/help/selling/getting-paid/getting-paid-items-youve-sold/payments-hold?

Switching from ebay's standard listing tool which places Best Offer on all of your listings to the Advanced / Business tool which allows you the option of having Best offer on your listings. Ignore the blurb for that tool only being for high volume or business sellers.

If you decide to accept offers on some items you can set up an auto accept/decline price range for those listings which can save you time, go to Auto responses to best offer header in the link below.

https://www.ebay.com/help/selling/listings/selling-buy-now/adding-best-offer-listing?id=4144

If you decide to continue listing your items as auction listings, start them at the lowest price you will accept for each item if there is only one bid. eBay's advice to start item with a low starting bid price is not a good idea at all!

@finn20_62 ,

Two things I forgot to mention are:

Check your shipping costs. USPS rates will increase on July 13.  So you may have to revise your listings shipping costs on that day.

DO NOT use USPS  Special Handling Fragile stickers, If you do the it will increase the shipping cost appreciably.  You can buy Frageelay / Fragile stickers from an office supply store or even at Walmart and put them on your packages without incurring an extra cost.  I put them on all 6 sides of packages when I use them.

USPS offers a Special Handling-Fragile service to ship a fragile package, or multiple fragile packages. There is an extra fee for each Special Handling-Fragile package (currently $11.15), in addition to postage.Jun 27, 2025
