Closing a return?

Hi there!

We had a buyer open a return request on March 26th. He had until April 24th to ship the item back to us and he has still not shipped it out. How do we close this return? We usually call seller support and we are unable to do that at this time.

Thanks!

Although it didn't start until April 1st, you can no longer ask eBay to close an abandoned return. Instead, eBay will just let returns automatically close.

Closing a return?

I too have that same problem. Buyer initiated a return over a month ago, E-bay has put a hold on my money, and the buyer never returned the item.  So now I have no money, and no item either.

There is no support from E-bay to allow these type of returns to be closed now it seems. So sellers once again get screwed.  These  types of transactions should automatically be closed per current E-bay rules after 23 business days but are not.

E-bay needs to start helping it's sellers for a change. Covid is not an excuse for buyers that take advantage.

This is the new timeline, up from the previous 5 business days to ship the return and the previous 2 business days to refund after return arrives back, temporarily.

What happens after that is unclear: The policy, which was updated but has not been updated, still says:

How much time are buyers given to ship returned items?

When buyers are sent an eBay-generated return label, the return is closed if the label is not printed within 10 business days. If the buyer prints the label, we allow the return to remain open an additional 5 business days to ensure shipping scans are captured.

Perhaps replace "10 business days" with "21 business days" and your situation still falls outside of written policy. Will you come back and update when your return finally, automatically closes to release your funds?

Yet the cases are still not closing even when they pass that time frame .  I hope someone from E-Bay will fix this.

Closing a return?

To E-Bay's credit, they just closed my return case, and removed the hold on my funds.  A bit late, but it makes me think someone actually read this thread and took some corrective action.  So hopefully, others including the OP are finding similar success now.

Closing a return?

Can you tabulate all the dates, to share the new automatic return close timeline?
