USPS Parcel Select Ground is cheaper.

Parcel Select for 45 pounds to Zone 8 costs $106.50. For Priority Mail, the cost would be $112.24 online (or $131.95 retail).  So a savings of $6 per box, but with MUCH slower shipping.

If you use Parcel Select Ground be aware that if you intend to use eBay's print label function that option may not appear when you go to print with eBay throwing you into some other shipping method, even one that could not possibly work, like an envelope.  I'm told you can print the right label through Pay Pal but I've not tried it.

And no insurance unless purchased separately.

Selling tires and large car parts, you should look into your shipping settings, @powerstrokerv8. You can exclude AK/HI and territories if your advertised FedEx Ground shipping method isn't applicable to those areas, or you can set up rate tables so buyers in those regions pay a different rate that accounts for the higher expense.

For tires (feel free to mention that in your post), look into FedEx Freight, UPS Freight, etc., by shipping it together.  Do you have a pallet?  Shipping tires through the US Postal Service after they have screwed the entire country with their excessive Zone and Balloon size pricing starting in 2010, ouch.

I agree, why should sellers be "employers" to the US Postal Service by paying them rather than paying ourselves.

I appreciate all the tips, I have shipped few items via USPS to PR, but the cost is just so high, its a deal killer 50% off the time for most folks even with the ebay discount. Im selling aluminum rims, and I'm trying to find alternatives to USPS that are cheaper.
