I shipped out a package today and decided to send it Priority Mail instead of First Class shipping. I had charged my buyer for First Class in the listing, but had no problem eating the extra price for the Priority shipping for the convenience of having the Post Office pick up my shipment.
My buyer just emailed me asking why PayPal had charged an extra fee to her credit card. She sent me a screen shot of her PayPal activity. There is the payment to my account for the original purchase price plus the First Class shipping. Then above it is another small charge, that doesn't reference my PayPal account or any other PayPal account.
Is there any way that this extra fee could have been associated with my choosing Priority instead of First Class? I certainly didn't invoice her for any extra shipping charge and I certainly didn't get any extra fee deposited into my PayPal account. I checked my PayPal and all that was deposited in my account was the original listing price plus the original First Class shipping, minus the usual PayPal charge.
Or....is this just some strange coincidence and that PayPal "fee" is associated with some other transaction she had.
I have asked her to check with PayPal. Just wanted to see if anyone else had this experience or could help explain things.

No, the extra fee couldn't be related to the postage upgrade.
It's probably sales tax.
You can order Carrier Pickup for a single First Class package.
