Changes to the shipping label page?

elizabeth@ebay

devon@ebay

I noticed while shipping orders over the weekend that the labels page no longer has an option to send the buyer a message. Is this a glitch or an intentional change?

If it was an intentional change, why? The ability to send a message from the labels page is a handy way to send a little thank you to the buyer when shipping. I used it all the time.

Re: Changes to the shipping label page?

I noticed that this morning.  I also had to switch from chrome to firefox to print a label as well.....

Hey @creativecrisis! We have seen other reports of this today and we are reaching out to see if this intentional or an issue. We will let you know once we hear back!

Hey @creativecrisis! I heard back from the Shipping Team on this and they said that this was removed intentionally. They do thank yourself and others for the feedback about your liking for this feature.

Re: Changes to the shipping label page?

Dear Devon, does ebay actually have any experienced sellers on their staff that can actually make Ebay better?  If they don't , then they should "hire" some sellers as consultants.   Obviously, this intentional omission is annoying to several sellers who like to send a quick thank you to their buyers.

To the poster,  go ahead and write thank you notes on a piece of paper.   You can easily fit 6-9 on a sheet of paper. Print a few copies and then cut the notes into slips.   Put one in each box. This is what I do along with the Item #.

Thanks so much for the follow-up.

Inquiring minds probably want to know why the shipping team decided to remove the feature. Any chance they might have shared their reasoning?

Re: Changes to the shipping label page?

Good tip! I do include a handwritten thank you on my packing slips.

I liked the "send a note" feature on the shipping page because it gave me a way to personalize the shipping notification.

I think most of us are here to build our own businesses, simply using eBay as a platform. The less eBay allows us to interact with our customers and distinguish ourselves as individual brands, the harder it is to do that. 🙄

@creativecrisis That is no problem at all! At this time I do not have any reason for why the feature was removed but if I do get one I will be sure to share.

Re: Changes to the shipping label page?

Thanks, Devon! I hope eBay will reconsider their decision to remove an integral way of thanking and communicating with buyers.

Re: Changes to the shipping label page?

Ah well, I guess now sellers will have to do a off ebay note of their own to the buyer, more will be also including their off ebay info.

Re: Changes to the shipping label page?

I think this omission is terrible! I always sent a thank you note when I created the shipping label, plus I put note in box.

put this back EBay!

Re: Changes to the shipping label page?

I agree...I always write a personal note, but loved writing another thank you when printing the label.  Can't believe it was taken away!

Re: Changes to the shipping label page?

I too think this is a bad idea to remove this option.  What harm was caused by sending an email, confirming the send date and a thank you for them purchasing the item.  Bring It Back!

Re: Changes to the shipping label page?

I agree that Ebay should have kept this option. I use this space to not only thank the customer but also the let them know exactly when the item is being shipped. Just sending the tracking number is a bit impersonal and this option saved additional step of contacting buyer separately. Please bring back the option.
